Why do people think they have the right to comment on your situation?! Having polite chit chat with a mum while waiting to pick DS7 up from school. She asks if I'll have anymore children and I say no probably not. She feels the need to then exclaim "oh you have to! Don't be selfish! He'll be bored!!"
How fucking dare she! I already have enough guilt about him being an only because his dad left us when he was 2. Hearing things like that really don't help!! But me being non-confrontational just laughed and shrugged it off. So angry for not sticking up for myself. Rant over!

Yes people can be bloody rude
Just ignore it, honestly
You know your reasons

I'm done justifying myself to other people.
Nobody has to like me or agree with me.
I'm not even sure I like myself or agree with myself half the time, but I will stand by my decisions once I've made them.

What a bellend! 'you have to'! Hmm ConfusedAngry
Wtf.

EnidButton · 16/01/2019 16:01

Shame you can't just say fuck off. I mean you can but you'd have to have massive balls to deal with the fall out.

What a dick. There are dozens of reasons why someone might not be able to have anymore children. Plus, you know, you might not want to. None of anyone's business whatever it is.

hudyerwheesht · 16/01/2019 16:01

I can imagine how that would sting, OP, given the circumstances. It annoys me too that people aren't a bit more considerate. They're usually the type that don't care what others think so apply the same rule to them. Easier said, though, I know.

jobbyjobson · 16/01/2019 16:11

I'm probably even more sensitive about it at the moment as his DF's girlfriend has 2 DS's and he loves spending time with them. I get a lot of "i want to live with daddy" and that really hurts

You need to have a standard not rude but firm response ready, one that doesn't upset you eg 'I don't think that's any of your business. Do you?' It's no offensive but blimey, she'll know to shut up.

Your ds only says that because he has ready made playmates at his dad's. Once he's a bit older and has his own friendship group, he won't be so keen.
