Measuring curtains.

I can work out the drop needed but width I am confused by.

My pole measures 106 inches across. Does that mean I need curtains at 53 inches min, preferably a little more for overlap in the middle?

When I was measuring for curtains I read somewhere (can't remember where though) that you need double the width. So each curtain needs to be 106.

From my days at my Saturday job in the custom-made curtain dept of BHS, we used to allow for 1.5 width. But that was over 30 years ago, so curtain fashion may have changed Grin

I believe if they are eyelet curtains, you need them to measure the same as your pole but if they are pencil pleat or gathered, they need to be double the width.

Either double which will create a lot of gather.
I usually do 1.5

I double the width of the window so each curtain is not quite as long as the pole but not that much shorter. I like a lot of gather though!

Thanks. They are eyelet curtains.

Eyelet curtains will need the length of pole plus some for overlap

You will need a pair of curtains that are 66 inches wide .

My DS recently bought what he thought was a PAIR of curtains and when he got it home it was ONE curtain. When he returned they told him that's how they sold them now Shock

Thanks oldraver! Will make sure I get a pair lol!
