TMI question about bowel movements

To those who have a good/strong digestive system (i.e. no IBS, intolerances or bowel diseases etc.).. do you have a "perfect" poo nearly every time?
i.e on the bristol poo chart (lol) www.continence.org.au/pages/bristol-stool-chart.html

a type 3 or 4 each day (and that doesn't cause skid marks) or do you tend to vary between loose stools, diarrhea, constipation etc. just like people with bowel diseases or IBS do (but perhaps less frequently so)?

Weird question but just curious haha

Wow, I think I’ve seen everything now!
I think my digestive system is pretty healthy but yes I do sometimes have less than perfect poos, eg over Christmas when I’ve not had as much fresh fruit as would in a normal work week.

ivykaty44 · 15/01/2019 21:12

For a perfect poo 💩

Apparently - after some research

It should be longer and come out in one go with a pointed end 💩

Also men are better at this than woman, due to nature

Bacardi101 · 15/01/2019 22:19

No not at all but I think I have something wrong I’m always in pain when I go!

Thanks for all the responses so far everyone. More posts appreciated.

@Bacardi101 Sorry to hear that- perhaps keep a food diary to try and maybe link it to a reaction to a certain food or perhaps a feeling e.g. stress triggers it. Also, where you're feeling the pain is important if you decide to go to the GP.

OrcinusOrca · 17/01/2019 21:13

I can't help, as I have IBS. I am interested in responses though. Also, my GP has never mentioned problems associated with poos that are not normal, but now I'm thinking about it, there must be some?

halfwitpicker · 17/01/2019 21:15

Why are men better at shittitng?

RavenLG · 17/01/2019 21:16

I rarely had a good poop. I’ve never been diagnosed with anything by my mum has ulstrative colitis (sp?) so perhaps I have some underlying digestive issues. My diet is also crap.

CommunistLegoBloc · 17/01/2019 21:21

Why are you asking this question

HolyMountain · 17/01/2019 21:22

I have a very good digestive system, well I think it is; regular as clockwork at around 7.30-7.45 am, don’t have to sit for longer than a minute and a good shape.

MoreHairyThanScary · 17/01/2019 21:23

From a slightly professional perspective, we encourage patients to have an understanding of their bowel habit. It can be really useful when managing other problems very few patients gave standard poos daily, as bowel habit is affected by so many things.... alcohol intake, higher or lower fibre in diet...increased or decreased fluid ... changes in medication...increased or reduced mobility....the list goes on!!

ItsHardToExplain · 17/01/2019 21:25

Is it because men usually spend ages doing a poo but women just go in the loo do it and go off to do something else?
Maybe taking ages to poo is good?!

Ozziewozzie · 17/01/2019 21:26

This is going to sound really bizarre but it works.
On ‘This Morning’ with Holly & Phill, a while ago, they had a feature ref poo. Apparently, Dr Chris said many of us are not pooping correctly.

The advice was to get a little stool ( like the toddler steps) and when we go for a poo, place your feet flat on the stool do your knees are brought up higher. This opens up relevant parts to enable the bowel to empty properly.

At first I thought.....really????
My dh has toilet trouble a lot. I got a toddler stool for him and ever since he’s been using it there has been a massive improvement. He no longer has tum trouble either. He would have loose and also get really constipated. I think without the toddler stool, the bowel doesn’t empty properly so stuff gets lodged hence problems.

Can I just add, I’ve been writing ‘toddler stool’ but anything that sort of level. They only cost a couple of pounds.

cheminotte · 17/01/2019 21:31

We still have the toddler stool from when dc where little and it’s def beneficial.

Thanks everyone for the helpful insights lol, esp. @Ozziewozzie

P.S I'm definitely NOT trolling and would struggle to imagine why anyone would.

Any more posts welcome

Since using a little stool under my feet and eating some kefir (with cereal) every morning I have the desired 'play-doh' poop (as so memorably described by an american proctologist) 85% of the time.
If I don't have perfect poo it's always because I've had too much of something; seafood, alcohol, spinach, ryvita-type crisp bread or popcorn are my 'bad poop' triggers.
And I maintain to this day that nothing is better for my tummy (if nothing else) than white sliced cheap bread and butter.

babysharkah · 18/01/2019 23:01

Why?

stinkypoo · 18/01/2019 23:07

It completely depends on what I have eaten & drunk in the preceding days, but I can pretty much know exactly where my poo will score, it's quite odd though.

ivykaty44 · 20/01/2019 12:55

Do you not find it also varies as to what exercise you have done and not just food intake?
