How long (approx) does it take you to clean your house top to bottom?

Im just curious.

On a normal day, not a deep clean where skirting boards are done and furniture pulled out.

How long does it take you to do a tidy up of your house and how big is your home.

I have a very compact/cosy/snug 2 bedroom cottage. No dining room and only 1 bathroom. It has taken me 2 hours to run the hoover over, dust, do the dishes, clean the bathroom, mop the floors and a general tidy up of toys and various science projects out the childs room Grin

I feel I have raced through it all but it is done. All tidy and clean. To be fair. The house has very little in the way of furniture, there is a serious space issue 🤣

Don't know. Never done it.

3 hrs 4 bed townhouse. I don’t do it in one go very often, tend to do one floor each day.

Ragwort · 15/01/2019 15:31

Another one who has never done it all in one go, I tend to do housework as and when something needs doing (or if we have visitors) and judging from these sorts of threads my standards are pretty low [ grin]. I suppose if I was really motivated I could manage it in 3 hours (5 bed house).

I don't do it all in one day so not sure.
We have a 4 bed house over three floors hoovering every room takes me around 50-55mins, including going around the window sills, light fittings, coving and skirting board with attachment. That includes lugging the hoover around and picking up stray socks/toys etc
Dishes takes under a minute for the odd glass/wooden spoon as we all load everything else straight into the dishwasher as it's used.
Dusting takes ages and I'd never attempt to do it all in a day. Kids rooms particularly have too many surfaces

I generally try follow The Organised Mum method though so stick to around 45 mins cleaning a day.

If only there were some way to find out. Oh well, I guess it will remain a mystery.

Very cluttered, smallish 3 bed maisonette.
A clean consists of:

Clean bathroom,
Tidy and hoover kids rooms
Make beds in kids rooms
Hoover stairs and landings
Washing up and clean kitchen
(NOT living room and our bedroom- DH does those)

It takes 3-4 hours depending on feek level

DotForShort · 15/01/2019 15:46

A couple of hours, maybe? I’m not sure, it is always fairly clean and tidy, we have a routine of keeping up with the daily chores that works well most of the time. When something unexpected occurs (illness or whatever) that means the routine is disrupted, it has never taken more than 2 or 3 hours to get back on track. We have a four bedroom house.

Big house. 4 hours, but that will include tidying, putting washing in and unloading. Actually it would probably take longer but after 4 hours it's ok and I give up. It then takes precisely 20 minutes for them to wreck it again

Starlight90 · 15/01/2019 16:02

No idea. Ive never done it in one day as I don’t have the time. If i do the kitchen i do the utility room too. Depends what needs doing. 4 beds, office, 2 bathrooms, large living room, kitchen and utility room. Plus large hallway. I do it in stages.

SheWhoDaresGins2 · 15/01/2019 16:04

So it would seem, going off peoples posts, for the size of my house 2 hours is an acceptable time. I thought I was maybes cutting corners somehow. Smile

Cleaner does it in 3 hours. I am ashamed to say that I've never done it myself (we moved in 5 months ago). I imagine it might take me nearer 4.

Large 3 bed house (2 bath, large kitchen, woodburner, 3 cats, approx 1600sqft).

I may have to sacrifice the cleaner during mat leave (sob).

hippospot · 15/01/2019 17:35

3 hours once a week to clean the house (4 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms.
BUT
I tidy up every day - so those 3 hours don't really include any tidying.

The tidying every day isn't a big deal - simply get everyone to put things back where they belong at the end of each day. My children are preteens so it's not like we have mountains of Lego out :)
