When did you start buying baby things?

I'm only around 13 weeks so wasn't really planning on starting to buy anything until the halfway mark. However DH wants to start just picking things up gradually to spread the cost more and to make it easier. It's just too soon isn't it? He keeps showing me statistics that I'm as safe as it gets during pregnancy and I don't magically become secure at 20 weeks and that I need to relax. When did you start buying bits?

Start as soon as you like!

After my 20 week scan which was at the same time as the start of the January sales. Saved lots on big things like the travel system etc.

In your case I might buy some big stuff now if you have room to store it and maybe save the fun stuff like clothes till later.

Thanks. Yes seen some very good sales at the moment but just so nervous to actually buy anything. Trying to not let superstitions cost me hundreds in the long run though!

For big things like the travel system, crib and furniture for the nursery I watched the nearly new baby stuff on FB marketplace like a hawk from early on and got some excellent bargains. If you leave it until later then you have to just get the best thing available at the time iyswim. I think I was around a similar gestation as you when I started.

Also when we found out the gender we went out and bought some baby girl clothes for novelty since we already had two boys!

I agree with Willow1992. With DC3 I watched Marketplace from the beginning and picked up an uppababy travel system for £140 in pristine condition (it converts to a double which is just what we needed). With DC1 we waited until further along and spent considerably more. Then again we purchased everything branch new with DC1 too.

I bought clothes quite early so I was always able to stock up to 6 months ahead.
