Help! So very worried about my dd

She's 20. Three months ago she had her usual eye check, and they picked up a shadow on her optic nerve. They referred her to hospital ( I went with her), where she spent 3 hours having various tests. They sent her away saying it wasn't anything to worry about, but to come back for a follow up to check nothing's changed.

So today she's had similar tests, unfortunately I didn't accompany her ( she's in her university town), they are now referring her to a neurologist ( still saying not to worry about it). Only trouble is, I'm very worried and googling does not help. Has anyone any experience this? Thanks.

Of course you're worried.
You wouldn't be a mother if you weren't.
Don't have any experience my self, but I will give this thread a few bumps.

Neuros will always rule out the serious conditions first. It's hard not to worry but the optician is just doing the right thing thing by flagging a concern

Sounds like a prolactinoma. They can be detected by optometrists because they cause calcium deposits in the eye, which is probably what they saw last time. If it was anything more serious they would have her seen more quicker. If so it's nothing to worry about. You would know about it already if it was.

Bless you, I would feel exactly the same in your position.
I hope it is nothing serious (sure it isn't).
Flowers & Flowers for both of you.
Please keep us up to date.

(I had a very bad eye condition when I was not long married, in my twenties. It was resolved! However I have great sympathy for anything to do with eyes.)

Had a proper conversation with her last night. They are investigating her visual snow. Apparently she has blurred vision sometimes and like tv interference. My dm also told me she had 2 years of testing as she has an abnormal optic nerve, they never got to the bottom of it, so maybe it's hereditary.
