Can I ask what you or your child is allergic to, and what are the symptoms that you/child get? Tia x

My child is allergic to all dairy, eggs, sesame, all nuts, peanuts, peas and all pulses.

Symptoms can different each time, and range from a very sore mouth & hives, to full anaphylaxis. It's very unpredictable.

Have you had skin prick or blood tests done?

Andro · 13/01/2019 18:22

Cheese - huge blisters on contact (needing hospital care, can be life-threatening depending on location), anaphylaxis on ingestion with internal blistering.

Tinyteatime · 13/01/2019 18:25

Cashews and pistachios. Swelling of lips/face, terrible rash all over body, vomiting and diarrhoea. We carry an epipen as anyone with any sort of swelling reaction should.

redyawn · 13/01/2019 18:27

I'm allergic to penicillin - total body rash, itching, swollen eyelids. It's horrible.

DC2 - apples - sore mouth. Used to be allergic to egg which gave a rash on contact.

My DS's lactose intolerance leaves him with severe constipation - so not something you can find out quickly. You have to include it in a diet for several weeks.

Thankyou for your replies, my dd had breathing difficulties, rash, bad nappy rash that wouldn't go, red eyes, that was on my breastmilk until I gave up dairy, she came up in hives with strawberries and a nappy rash ( rare for her nowadays ) with raspberries xx

I have a reaction to fragrances that you find in cheap cosmetics and moisturisers. I get a rash which comes up like a heat rash, so all fine when I'm not doing anything, as soon as I do the slightest bit of activity the rash comes up.

Have you looked at FODMAP? The app has been done by Monash University, and it lists the 6 short-chain carbohydrates which people can have chemical reactions to. They are intolerances rather than allergies, but they could also play a part?

The fodmaps are:

Fermentable - certain carbohydrates that remain undigested and ferment

Oligasaccharides - fructans and GOS

Disaccharides - lactose

Monosaccharides - Fructose

Polyols - Sorbitol & Mannitol

I was surprised to find that raspberries and blackberries had completely different things that you could react to - they just seem like they would be varieties of the same type of fruit to me!

My ds when smaller had a tomato allergy he would get a red blotchy face and then his eczema would flair up. He does react much to tomato products these days but I haven’t ever tried him on a fresh tomatoes.

Ifartglitterybaubles · 13/01/2019 18:55

Ds1 - dustmite allergy, chronic cough and exacerbates his Asthma. He also has a severe peanut allergy, (Anaphylaxis) Hives, swelling to face, mouth, airways and stomach ache are the main symptoms he has to have Epipens.

yawning801 · 13/01/2019 18:58

For some allergens it's wheezing, feeling like my throat is swelling, itchy chin (weird, I know), dry cough, general asthma-y stuff. For my cat it's runny nose, sneezing and sore, red, watery eyes.

yawning801 · 13/01/2019 18:59

Just reread that, I made it sound like my cat has an allergic reaction! She doesn't, that's me being possibly allergic to her Grin
