Does your baby/toddler wake up crying?

Realise this may sound like a bizarre question. My 15mo has multiple allergies and we are still battling reflux. I’m just wondering if it’s normal to wake (from naps and during the night) fully crying? I have no gage on what’s normal as we’ve had a very hard time with her allergies and reflux since birth. :(

Yes. My (almost) 2 year old does.

Yup, ours does. Crying and on his feet within seconds. Unless he’s really, really tired in which case he sits up, then falls back to sleep sat up. He’s 12 months. I wondered about this too! He’s got easier to settle since we got him in his more comfy, bigger He also had reflux but not severely, and I do think some foods may not agree with him but not allergies.

DS (now 4) did this for years! HE never woke quietly, or played happily in his cot for a bit before calling for or us. Every morning, every nap time waking, every night time wake up, heralded by screaming. It was not the nicest way to be dragged out of sleep for us! He stopped about a year ago - not when we moved him into a toddler bed, but when he felt happy and condfident enough to get out of bed and come into our room once he woke up.

My 14 month old rarely wakes up crying and can be up there for ages before I realise he’s awake😄 my eldest though always cried upon waking and was generally a trickier sleeper.

DS also had reflux and CMPA, and was a terrible sleeper until he was about 6months old, then he started sleeping though most nights. Still screamed whenever he did wake up though.

Ds does, I can be sat right next to him and he will still wake and cry. I can count on one hand the amount of times he has woken up happy. He does take a while to 'come to' as well. I think he just sleeps deeply and wakes suddenly or something.

Oh, he's 18 months.

DS is 2 and a bit and it's about 70/30, majority of the time he wakes up crying but it's not uncommon for him to wake up calling for me. He's a very, very good sleeper so nothing to do with waking up tired, I think it's normal.

Our 2 year old wakes up wailing when he wakes in the night but in the mornings he will sometimes pootle through to me and wake me with a cheery ‘wakey, wakey mummy!’ unless he’s wet from a nappy leak or there’s some other problem. Naps can go either way.

Mine never have but my niece did this for years. Every time I looked after her overnight I would be up all night. Reading the posts it's surprising how common it is
