Paying local teenager for Spanish lessons

DS, 8, is interested in learning some Spanish for our holiday. His reading is not really good enough to work through a book, and we tried some podcasts but they're all aimed at adults.

There is a bilingual Spanish teenager living near us who is up for earning extra money. Obviously he has no teaching experience or any idea where to start but if I bought a book for them to work on together would this be a good approach? Do you think half an hour is ok, too long, too short? And how much should I pay?

Thanks!

20 minutes is enough for one small child. I'd say a tenner is fair.

Things like learning colours, food, and the sort of things that any toddler would learn as they begin to speak their native language would help - please, thank you, that kind of thing - with some specific phrases, such as 'please may I have an ice cream?' and the alphabet/how to sound out words, as they are pronounced differently to English.
