I'm fucking 50 - how did that happen?

Just that really. Some of you are already, I know ( Sparklingbrook, Anyfucker). Listening to stuff from my past. Looking at pictures of past conquests. Still feeling like a 17-year-old idiot. No point really. Is it OK?

I was 60 last year. I can't be that old. My DS is 40 so I must be, I've had almost a year to get used to it. 61 coming up soon.
Happy Birthday op
This is a card I was given last year. Very outing but I'm not bothered

What I hate about turning 50 (this April) is that now I'll qualify for all the "over 50" insurance plans. Fuck. Off. 😠

CountFosco · 12/01/2019 14:32

Yes, the hardest bit of my life is not my age but my teenagers! This the is the best argument for having them at 20something! So you can enjoy your 50s!!

I enjoyed my 20s and early 30s. At 50 I'm still going to have two pre-teens, the younger of which will still be a teenager when I turn 60. Eek!

GimmeBread · 12/01/2019 14:33

My oldest is getting married this year and that makes me feel really auld!

BendydickCuminsnatch · 12/01/2019 14:36

Happy birthday OP 🍷🥂🍸🎂

Your opening post reassured me, I won’t elaborate other than I’ve been feeling very blue along these lines lately.

From another idiotic not-17-year-old.

Iloveantiques · 12/01/2019 14:37

50 in 2 weeks. I look in the mirror and wonder where the real me is because it isn't the wrinkly face looking back at me. In my head I'm still in my 20s

MeetJoeTurquoise · 12/01/2019 14:40

I turned that corner a couple of years ago. I still can't get my head round it.

Blobby10 · 12/01/2019 14:53

Same here! I’m 50 this year and wonder where my life has gone!! 😳😳

BrokenWing · 12/01/2019 15:04

I unwillingly became 50 two weeks ago. Still have my NHS pressie to return, and it is painful clicking that 50-55 age range in forms/surveys.

Other than that the sky hasn't fallen in, yet, happy birthday!! 🎉🎁

GrandmaJane · 12/01/2019 15:34
  1. And it happened because we didn’t die.

Yay!

Life has never been better.

TSSDNCOP · 12/01/2019 15:42

It is ok, it took a few days but what can you do?

The thing that absolutely gets on my tits is the assumption from other similarly aged women is that I want to discuss the menopause, hot flushes and mammograms now “that we are that age”.

I don’t.

Whatthefunk · 12/01/2019 15:49

I'm 50 very soon. Went to a 50th birthday party, last night. And for the first time, in my life, got called fit. Feckin chuffed Grin

hazeyjane · 12/01/2019 15:55

I turn 50 this year. I just feel like by now I should be better at being an adult. I was fucking brilliant at titting about in my 20s. (I'm still good at titting about now...but unfortunately things like work and being a responsible parent gets in the way)

It slightly does my head in that at 50 my eldest will be entering teenagerdom and my youngest is 8.

LowbrowVictoriana · 12/01/2019 15:55

50 next month! It’s like I’ve swapped places with someone else, an older person.
Having a 50-something DH and friends makes it a bit easier to come to terms with, though.

GimmeBread · 12/01/2019 16:35

I'm the oldest in our friendship group and close family and the bastards never let me forget it!

But I still look younger than all of them! 😂😂

Asta19 · 12/01/2019 19:20

This is where having kids young has paid off. My DS will be 30 when I’m 50 and my DD 28 (no grandchildren as of yet!). So I dealt with the teenage years in my 30’s. Would hate to be doing that now! But then I do feel pretty old and knackered! My mind is still young, my body not so much Blush

GertrudeWilloughby · 12/01/2019 19:26

I'm not believing that I'm 50 in April, either. There's no way that I'm out of my teens! Grin

ALongHardWinter · 12/01/2019 19:26

That's nothing OP. I was 55 in October and I'm still asking myself how the actual fuck did that happen?! Grin

Happy birthday btw! Flowers Cake andWine

GertrudeWilloughby · 12/01/2019 19:27

DD of 23 confuses me. She was only born yesterday?! Confused

GertrudeWilloughby · 12/01/2019 19:28

Happy Birthday 🎂

GloatyMcGloatface · 12/01/2019 19:33

Flowers Happy Birthday OP.

blueirises · 12/01/2019 19:59

Thanks all. Not too bad a day really. Not dwelling on the age thing too much (trying to ignore it today - I'm hungover, Ok?!).
And dd (14) made a beautiful chocolate cake, and I got a huge cheddar truckle with a trier (push in and turn stick of cheese remover thing).
I imagine being 50 will sink in gradually, though I'm putting my fingers in my ears when those Over 50 life plan adverts come on the telly.

Happy birthday 🎁 op ...
life is fun in your fifties 😀

CountFosco · 13/01/2019 00:29

It slightly does my head in that at 50 my eldest will be entering teenagerdom and my youngest is 8.

I'll be the same! I'm older than my mother was when I graduated and I have a 6 year old and she keeps telling me she was the last of her friends to have kids.

FevertreeLight · 13/01/2019 00:53

But yes, the bloody eyesight (bag glasses, upstairs glasses, locker at work glasses)

I had lens replacement surgery at 50- best money ever spent. Laser is cheaper
