Struggling to find clothes for dd, please help.

Hello, Lovely mumsnet folks.
My dd is almost 13 and she is getting increasingly upset by her size and the clothes she has to wear.
She is quite tiny. Weighs about 4 stone 7 at the very most. (was last weighed in November at 4 stone 4). She is fairly short as well so looks slim to look at but not unhealthily so. She has lived in leggings in the past as she cannot find trousers that fit her without having to have the adjustable waists pulled in so much that they look ridicously baggy at the top. She is desperate for a lovely pair of skinny jeans but they just aren't skinny on her. Can anyone recommend somewhere I can buy her some fashionable teenage clothing in small sizes. She has been in floods of tears this evening (again) as she is getting more and more aware of how her body is different compared to her friends, who are going through puberty and getting boobs and such and she just isn't there yet. I hate seeing her so upset.
Thanx in advance for your suggestions.

Astrid - are the legs skinny? I have a 10 yr old who is really slender and skinny jeans are always baggy on her. She’s just started to remark on it but is kicking up a heck of a fuss so will need to find some alternatives - Gap slim fit atm and had Zara jeans but they’re either too baggy or too short in the leg if I go down a size.

The 8 - 9 were perfect and the legs were skinny on her which is great. But the 10- 11 were baggy on her. It depends how long your daughters legs are. The 8-9 said they were for 134cm height but my daughter is 139 cm height and the 10-11 said 140cm height. You need to try them on and you need to check the height in the age you pick up as some of the same age ranges as slightly different heights. x

I recently read in a similar thread though asking for a boy rather than a girl, and a poster had suggested investigating Asian sites as they generally have smaller waists.

I was going to say she is the same height and weight as my tall skinny 9 year old. We do a lot of cheap shops (primark/H&M) because they cut narrow. H&M we find especially good and whilst they have a fair bit of girls stuff, I have to navigate so dd doesn't pick up stuff which is too old for her.

Pleased she got the jeans

Hi

I have a similar problem with my 10 year old. She is tall though, but very very slim and tiny built.

The only jeans and trousers that work for us are - Next do a range of school trousers and jeans that are skinny style, but then also come in three different fits which basically equate to plus, standard and slim fit (they have different names for the sizes, I just can't remember what they are). Some of H&M's skinny jeans can also be very slim fitting - not all though. That's it, that's the sum total of what we've been able to find! And believe me I've searched!!

We do have some from Primark but find the skinny jeans are very baggy on my daughter.

Appreciate you said your daughter was small height wise too, but thought you might find the info useful. X
