Frogqueen13 · 11/01/2019 14:51

So we have sold our house and bought a house

The lad that has bought our house is a first time buyer- he has he mortgage sorted and has had his survey done.

The lady we are buying from is moving in with her sister- so no upward chain

Out mortgage is sorted and solictors are instructed and done some searches

When do we start packing?

Do I need to do anything g else?

Thanks

I’d start packing when you’ve got xchanged contracts. Before then, anyone can pull out of the sale.

Now is the time to start decluttering - chuck, recycle, sell and donate.
Ask yourself, can I be arsed to wrap this thing in bubblewrap, box it up, trip over said box for several weeks, then unpack it? Grin

Anything you rarely use eg Christmas decorations, stuff in the loft / shed can be packed into sturdy boxes and labelled.

I recommend at least two weeks between exchange and completion to pack. I've never used a packing service but a lot of people have said it's well worth the money.

I agree, start decluttering now. The tip will be your friend. It's amazing how much stuff we keep that we do t actually use, need or want when you actually look into it.
