Does anyone know how to recall an email on just your personal outlook account or can it only be done on an office outlook account?

Desperately need to stop the message being read at the other end.

TIA

You open the sent message and the option is on a drop down in the options at the top of the message. You need to be on a computer rather than a phone though I think...

Alliwantisthisorthat · 10/01/2019 22:30

These are the only options I have

There used to be the option to recall emails on personal accounts.

moreteaplease0 · 10/01/2019 22:33

Can't be done I'm afraid.

Even on a business outlook the request to retrieve the email is just that, a request, which is easily declined by the receiver.

Alliwantisthisorthat · 10/01/2019 22:33

I thought you could on personal accounts but everything I google is only showing me on office outlook.

I think you need to be using a pc.

Open the sent message and under file you can pick recall.

moreteaplease0 · 10/01/2019 22:33

What's the worst that could happen if the email is read?

Is it a friend you can call up and speak to?

ChardonnaysPrettySister · 10/01/2019 22:34

You couldn’t do it once it was open.

Alliwantisthisorthat · 10/01/2019 22:35

I've sent it to the wrong company and it contains some personal information. I know it definitely wouldn't have been read yet as it's a small company and the emails won't be checked to the morning.

Think it can only be recalled if everyone is on the same network, i.e. all connected on same server at work...

AnchorDownDeepBreath · 10/01/2019 22:37

It's usually under file when the email is open. But bear in mind that it works less than 2% of the time; so you might want to email and ask them to delete the information and perhaps pay for a SAR to ensure they have in a few weeks.

Alliwantisthisorthat · 10/01/2019 22:39

I think I am just going to send a email and apologise and ask she can delete it and hopefully she will and not use the information I have given in the email agaianst me.

I've just checked on my laptop and if you open the sent message and then click file, it does have an option to recall but I've never tried it. I need to open the sent message in to a single window to see the option though.

Alliwantisthisorthat · 10/01/2019 23:01

I do not have the option of file on my email for some strange reason. When I open it in a single window this is the only options I get.

That's a worrying statement! Would it be ethical for her to do that?

Is this a solicitor or someone?

I hope you're feeling alright about it today Thanks

Alliwantisthisorthat · 11/01/2019 13:03

I sent an email asking to delete the message as it was sent in error and I got a reply back saying they have deleted it so I'm happy with that.

A recalled email just send the user a “this email has been recalled” message.
