I am travelling to London for a meeting at the Etc. venue in St. Paul's and I will need to being my mobility scooter to get about, how difficult is this likely to be in London?

I will get into Euston station and my hotel in by Tower Bridge, about a mile from the venue I think, am I best just using my scooter to get there from Euston.

I need advice because every time I go to London I fuck it up and end up in a total mess - I'm not a natural townie! I must be the only person to misplace Oxford Street and Drury Lane Sad

I think Tower Hill and Euston are both accessible stations so you shld be fine. Blackfriars is also accessible and not that far from your venue.

Use the circle line heading eastbound or consider uber if you can download it

Here is the step free tube guide which should help, though I'm not sure if they allow mobility scooters on the tube - maybe ring up and ask (I say that because I don't recall ever having seen one on the tube).

St Paul's isn't that easily accessible from either Euston or Tower Bridge by tube, however - ordinarily I would say walk or get a cab.

dinkystinky · 10/01/2019 14:05

Tower Bridge to St Paul's isnt that far as the crow flies - plenty of cabs heading along that route so a blackcab or use your scooter between those two venues or take the tube to Blackfriars and is about 10 minutes from there.

Euston Square is where the direct Circle line east goes from not Euston. It’s easy to get to from the main line station but I don’t think the platforms are directly accessible. If you scroll down to number 4 tfl.gov.uk/forms/12387.aspx there is a step free guide.

AveEldon · 10/01/2019 14:18

Mobility scooters are allowed on the tube

If you call TFL they can talk you through the best route

anniehm · 10/01/2019 14:31

I don't think you can take a mobility scooter on the tube, I've never seen one at least so check with tfl. Unless it collapses very small perhaps.

Mookatron · 10/01/2019 14:35

I would get a black cab in your position. From Euston to St Pauls anyway. Then i would look at buses from St Pauls to the hotel as there may be a quick bus ride. it depends what tim you are using it though - buses are accessible but realistically I don't know how stressful it would be for you to organise the lowering/getting on procedure if it were busy.

RiverTam · 10/01/2019 14:50

I wouldn't get a bus round St Paul's unless you absolutely have to.

There's some brilliant information here, thanks to you all Smile

I think I'd like to just scoot from Euston to my hotel, according to Google maps it's about 2.5 miles, and it just seems easier than messing about with all this public transport that will confuse me.

Do you think that's practical and do-able?

from Euston to Tower Bridge? 3.3 miles according to Google Maps, takes an hour to walk, which may or may not take you less time depending on how busy it is? I mean, it looks like a fairly nice walk, you'd take in some of the sights so yes, why not? But I would have a plan B up your sleeve for if it's raining.

Hubblebubbletripletrouble · 10/01/2019 15:19

Just to add - I use the citymapper app to get around London, if you did need to look at buses you could download that.

AlrightBabby · 10/01/2019 15:20

@RiverTam that sounds like the best idea. I think walk (or scoot) with black cab as plan B then.

Thanks so much for your help Star

It sounds easy to go from Euston to Tower Hill by mobility scooter but you need to factor in time for all the road crossings that would entail. Euston road itself is a mega busy dual.carriage way that you would only be able to.cross at set points. Personally I would get a taxi as the tube accessibility isn't great - there isn't step free access to go east bound from Euston Square for example.

RiverTam · 10/01/2019 15:29

there are plenty of road crossings and you only need to cross the Euston Road once. I really don't see that that is a factor?
