Nap and play routine for 7 week old?

Been reading that we might try a nap routine around now, any tips and will you share yours? DD has been a good nights sleeper since birth-but really dropping her day naps now, sleeps only 20 mins or so unless out for a walk in the pram when she’ll sleep for hours. What sort of routine might we try to introduce and how long should she be sleeping in the day? We are EBF. Don’t want to do anything to mess about with her nights as they’ve been going so well!

Also any tips for playing at this age, what should i be doing with her? MN baby page says to take her to art galleries to enjoy bright colours Hmm but she still can barely hold her head up Smile

I have a 9 week old. No real routine for days yet but a good night one.

We ‘play’ by having him lay on my legs with knees up. He on a 45 degree angle. We ‘chat’. He has a play mat which he likes. We have a few ‘amazing baby’ black and white books to read. But basically life is entertaining and stimulating at this age

Thanks binksy. How long do you play for and how many times ? I heard it can be overstimulation to do too much? Do you also do a bit of tummy time? Dd hates it so I rarely manage more than a few mins.

Around 10-20 mins. I get a bit bored after that Blush! He goes on the mat or in his bouncer watching the world for up to 30 minutes. I use that time to do stuff like eat, do washing etc. We also are starting to do baby groups like baby sensory and hartbeeps which are fun and stimulating.

I recommend persevering with the sleep. My daughter was such a pain with it but we persevered using the baby whisperer stuff. You need time to switch off and you can’t really do that when they are awake.

Dc2 is 7 months now, I just let him get into his own routine. By 3ish months he decided bedtime was around 7ish and that's when he got popped into the poddlepod on the sofa next to me until I went to bed. I let him nap as and when as they need to nap so frequently at that age.

I found this helpful and just tried to ensure that he was only awake for the length of time specified on the chart.
