Fun restaurant in London for 9yo

Any recommendations for a fun restaurant for my DDs 9th Birthday in London? I'm almost not sure what I'm after but something that's a bit different, definitely not too 'foodie' as she's a fussy and plain eater!

Giraffe? Rain forest? Go to the zoo or bowling (Allstate lanes have a 50s diner theme).

Does she like pizza? There are some great ones - Rossopomodoro in Covent Garden is great, if you sit upstairs theres a glass floor in the middle where you can look down at the chefs cooking your food. They do pasta too. Somewhere fun for a child that isn't rubbish is tricky - Rainforest Cafe, Planet Hollywood etc have terrible food. What sort of food does she like?

Although one of the afternoon teas could be better. There are some great kids ones! We did Charlie and the Chocolate factory at One Aldwych which is good for kids with a sweet tooth.

Also Bodeans BBQ is a good one

All star lanes looks amazing!

Pizza would be great.

Afternoon tea is definitely an option she has a ridiculously sweet tooth.

Inamo.

Various branches around central London.
My dd utterly loved it there. On going to sound very old fashioned because I don't know the technical words for what they do but there are projections on your personal table you can change.

The ambience... Cherry blossom or blues.. The sea.. Etc. Your order from your table. The interactive thing.. There are games she can play, alone or with the yiu.. My dd adored it I did too. Only thing to watch is the little dishes can add up (Asian food) but far far better than rain forest etc

Rainforest Cafe....my DS wants to go there all the time

Does she like Harry Potter? There's an amazing themed afternoon tea at Cutter & Squidge in the Potion room

Titsywoo · 09/01/2019 23:02

Oh yes Inamo is really good. It might not suit her tastes if she likes plain and simple though.

Rainforest cafe was awful, I took my DD for a birthday treat and the place was really tired and tatty.

The food was not great, and expensive with it.

Was really disappointed.

@butterry this is a shameless hijack of someone else's thread to ask you more about the C&S potion room tea; I am baulking at spending so much on cake when the reviews are mixed to say the least. Seems that service / performance is v hit / miss and they are criminally inflexible about changing bookings. Did your child(ren) think it worth it?

butterry · 04/02/2019 12:42

@LondonBelongsToMe I took a couple 9 year olds who loved the experience and cake. It’s different from your usual afternoon tea as it’s interactive, you get to wear robes and take part in a potion class. If your children love Harry Potter it’s definitely worth it. We really enjoyed the food, experience and had no problems with the service

Idontbelieveinthemoon · 04/02/2019 12:45

The Big Easy in Covent Garden is lovely. Not specifically aimed at children but we've been quite often with the DC and they love it there.

LondonBelongsToMe · 04/02/2019 12:48

thanks Butterry, I'm diving in with the booking!
