Using the sauté option def improves the taste of the soup.

whatalifethisis · 09/01/2019 19:01

Yes, love it. Used every week :)

CormoranStrike · 09/01/2019 19:06

Mine is the basic no sautés version, but I just made leek and potato soup and it was good

Absolutely love mine and you’ve just reminded me that I’ve some soup mix to use up, so yum yum, soup tonight. It also makes smoothies. I got mine from B&M. They seem to sell it at the best price, £39.99 I don’t set it for the automatic blended soup though, as it makes it a bit too thin for my liking. If you prefer that setting, I would recommend using less liquid. I set it for chunky then use the blender option for my preferred consistency. You’ll get people on saying just use a pot and hand blender, but there’s no comparison. You chuck the ingredients in, swith it on and leave it. No standing over it checking, stirring, then blending.

I’m now making my second soup of the night Grin

Butternut squash made - mmmmmmm.

I had a squash, some mange tout, an onion, garlic, chilli, paprika and ginger.

Yep love it.

My favourite is probably the most boring - Leek and potato!

3 x large leeks chopped (or 4 if smaller)
2 x large potatoes chopped
3 x veg oxo cubes
Put it all in then fill with cold water to the maximum line. Smooth 21 minute setting. Add salt and pepper before serving, amazing!

CormoranStrike · 09/01/2019 20:12

Mmmmmmmmmmmnmm

I’ve made soup tonight for tomorrow’s lunch - will it thicken overnight or stay the same?

OP posts:
Shadow1986 · 09/01/2019 20:36

Might thicken slightly but not much I don’t think...have you made it too watery? It’s taken me a while to get consistency right.

3out · 09/01/2019 20:38

I like that you can just chuck anything in. I know that’s just what normal soup is too, but the soup maker just makes it all a doddle :)

CormoranStrike · 09/01/2019 20:40

It’s not too watery, but I would prefer a tiny bit more thickness

Shadow1986 · 09/01/2019 20:40

Another one I like is sweet potato (2 or 3 if smaller), leeks (2 or 3) and a red pepper with 3 veg oxo cubes. That’s sooo nice.

Shadow1986 · 09/01/2019 20:40

Less water or more potato next time!!

user1468942365 · 09/01/2019 20:42

If I get rid of either the George F or the ice cream maker, can I have one for my birthday please? I think you've made up my mind for me.

Shadow1986 · 09/01/2019 20:42

Get rid of the ice cream maker, such a faff I used mine once!

CormoranStrike · 09/01/2019 20:46

And my soup maker takes up the room a kettle does. So easy to fit in most kitchens

user1468942365 · 09/01/2019 21:07

Thanks, lovelies! It's on my list!

PositivelyPERF · 09/01/2019 21:21

If I make the soup too thin, I put some tinned spuds and stock into the soup maker, liquidise them and add to the soup, until I get a good consistency. It works well if your batch cooking.

OP, do you add dill to your potato and leek soup? It’s lovely.

CormoranStrike · 09/01/2019 21:23

No, but I will next time now you have recommended it - fresh or dried?

bananasandwicheseveryday · 09/01/2019 22:16

Tomato soup
1 tin chopped tomatoes
2 packs passata (500g each pack)
2 tablespoons tomato puree
300 ml skimmed milk
1 vegetable stock pot
1tsp sugar
150ml double cream

Place everything except cream into soup machine and set to 'smooth'mode (mine takes about 20 minutes)
When finished, add the cream and blend for 30 seconds.
Totally delicious cream of tomato soup costing under £2 for five really generous portions. It stores well in the fridge for up to five days.

PositivelyPERF · 09/01/2019 22:36

I use dried. I’ll have a look for the recipe tomorrow and post it, if you’d like?

Jimpix · 09/01/2019 22:39

If mine comes out too thin, I add some smash powder to thicken it.

Tolleshunt · 09/01/2019 22:46

I want one of these!

Tonsilss · 09/01/2019 22:56

Unfortunately a lot of people have experienced a serious electrical fault, with it blowing all their kitchen's electrics.
