Lymph nodes

Anyone had trouble with lymph nodes staying up after having a cough and cold? It’s almost been 4 weeks and my glands in my neck still feel like they are up, also feel like they are in my armpit. One tonsil is a lot bigger than the other but doesn’t look red or sore. We seem to be passing it back to one an other as the four of us are not having a cold at the same time. Managed to get a gp appointment tomorrow just wondered if anyone’s had the same?

Yes I’m the same at the moment and waiting for blood test results for suspected Glandular Fever.

@ShadyLady53 I’ve already had glandular fever about 10 years ago not sure you can get it twice? I was extremely poorly then.

You can’t get the strain twice but you can get a Glandular Fever type illness twice, so you could have initially contracted Epstein-Barr and then years later got Cytomegalovirus. Both cause “Glandular Fever”.

Given that you aren’t the only one affected though, it’s unlikely for all of you to contract the same illness at the same time.

General viruses seem to be sticking around for a lot longer at the moment. Up to 7 weeks from what I hear.

@ShadyLady53 oh are they? I’m the only one with swollen glands but I seem to have them when I’m unwell after the glandular fever they’ve just never been up this long apart from then.

I have loads of palpable ones, particularly in my neck but also a few in my groin. They used to scare the shit out of me as I suffer from health anxiety but I've had them all looked at multiple times and all fine. I think it might be a familial thing as my mum has got them too and so does my three-year-old DS - you can see one in his neck very easily when he turns a certain way. He's had it since he was about a year old.

Mine in my neck have been up for years and years and years - going on a decade now really.

@nomorearsingmermaids yes my mums are constantly up so that would just add to the list of things she’s passed down 🤦🏻‍♀️. Hopefully the doctors will be able to tell tomorrow if it’s normal or not. I’m very anxious about my health as well
