I have learnt through messy experience that you can't use Fairy Liquid when you run out of dishwasher tablets

But but but....

YOU DONT NEED DISHWASHER TABLETS!!! THINGS COME OUT PERFECTLY CLEAN WITH JUST PLAIN WATER WASH! Shock

I recommend Indesit dishwashers. They’re one of the cheapest brands on the market, and very reliable. My first one lasted over 20 years, and my current one is pushing 15 and still going strong.
I can’t understand the PPs who say handwashing is faster or easier. I just stick things into the dishwasher all day, and run it once overnight so everything is clean and ready for the next morning. I’d hate to do three lots of washing up, or have a kitchen full of dirty dishes all day.

My problem with dishwashers is all the bending over you have to do when you unload them it just annoys me and it gives me indigestion
I like washing up because you can do it all while standing and not having to change levels

plus I've always found that in order to get anything clean you need to rinse it pretty well and that makes me feel as if I might as well just wash it by hand

then again I live alone so I don't have large amount of washing up to do but I quite enjoy washing up as long as I've got something interesting to listen to on the radio and good rubber gloves, currently I'm using the black extra wear ones, you can take them on and off quickly which always helps I find 😁

We use waitrose own-brand powder, less than they say you need. Cheap and effective. We do have a water softener.

When we got our first dishwasher we were advised to only use liquid dishwasher cleaner and not the powder (no tablets then) as it would be better for the machine. So used the Finish one for years but then progressed to the Fairy platinum as it is supposed to keep your machine clean also put it through a clean once a month using the Fairy cleaning tabs.( I also have usually a stash of tablets though maybe six months supply at the most as I am always on the lookout for price reductions for the Fairy platinum but unfortunately they do not get reduced as much now as in the past. Looking at some of the suggestions her I think I will have to rethink my choice of using Fairy) That machine a Siemens lasted 19 years then we moved house so not sure if the new owners used it or got rid. Would have taken it with us only our new house was a new build and turn key with new integrated dishwasher a Candy which I would swap for my old one anyday. (Also my Bosch fridge freezer which I left behind but that is a whole other story)

I have a StABLE of dishwasher tablets in the cupboard. (* Stash Acquired Beyond Life
Expectancy)*

I suffer with StABLE for other items too. Which include coffee and washing powder. I do not know why I just have to have a good supply of these. Why i do not know but I get all jittering if I have just opened a new washing powder (which will last a good few weeks) and there is NONE for backup ... As for coffee, well clearly I need that for my washing powder issue. This applies not just to the kitchen, but also to the bathroom, where soap is in abundance. So folks, call on me if the world ends and you need a good bath or some clothes washing.... whilst being wide awake....Grin

You can unstack the dishwasher for me in exchange, thanks....

Those who say that they're not a labour-saving device: are you all the kind of people who rinse every last bit of food off the plate before putting it in?! I just do a quick scrape then chuck it in then empty the filter once a week or so (no more difficult really than emptying the waste trap in the plughole).

Top tip from me, you don't need to unwrap the Finish tablets !!! My DH is works for the company that produces them. I've spent years trying to get the fiddly plastic off each time but nope it's made to dissolve in the hot water. Total revelation !!!
