Help me resurrect my handbag

I posted this on style and beauty earlier but only got one response so shamelessly reposting for traffic. I looked at the mulberry website but the only seem to offer repairs under guarantee
Anyone else any ideas?

I have a black leather mulberry bag. It’s about 8 years old and has been used daily every winter. It is still absolutely perfect except where the colour has faded as shown. I’d love to get it restored as it would be as new if this was fixed. Anyone have any advice? Can I do it myself? Any recommended products? Should I get it done professionally? If so , where? Thanks in advance

Try www.handbagclinic.co.uk it's recommended by quite a few people on the Mulberry facebook selling pages.

As someone who paid five times the cost of a bag to get a new zip put in, I feel your pain.
You could try oiling it, I have an ancient leather jacket, souvenir of my Futile Youth Grin and it is still in perfect condition after more years than I care to mention. I liked it regularly, with essential oils ( but always resisted the patchouli fragrance!) and it seems to have worked for several decades...
(Or shoe polish/dubbing maybe?)

Thanks for the suggestions. The handbag clinic do online quotes so that sounds promising. Oiling might help but I think the colour is gone so not sure 🤔

Have you tried a tiny bit of shoe polish?

gemandjule · 09/01/2019 07:18

Haven’t tried shoe polish. Can’t hurt. Although will it rub off on my clothes??

It shouldn't, it doesn't run off polished shoes onto trousers.

OK, I'll head into the cobblers in town tomorrow and get their best shoe polish and give that a try first, we'll take it from there and see. Thanks everyone
