Sad for dd - she'll have braces when she starts Uni

Orthodontist today - she was referred 2 years ago - and she's been told she needs braces to correct a cross bite.

She starts Uni this year and was really looking forward to the fresh start instead of being the quiet studious one.

Now she'll have braces and she reckons as she's small people will think she's about 14 She's not the most confident person and she was looking forward to meeting lots of nice young men.

I know it won't matter as much as she thinks it will (not to anyone worth caring about) but I am so sad for her.

My DD didn't have braces by the time she started uni, but at an offer holders event someone thought she was a 14yo 'child prodigy'. At roughly the same time she was still occasionally being offered the children's menu if she went out to eat with us, and once at a museum an activity sheet...

A year and a bit in, she seems to have met quite a lot of nice young men (and so far, apparently, fended off their advances whilst remaining friends)

Don't worry, OP, your DD will be fine, she'll maybe just have to show her ID a bit more often if she wants a drink.
