Suggestions please for low-waste/non-plastic/non-tat stuff that can go in party bags for 8 year olds.
Preferably low-cost to boot! Grin

I did books from the works instead which went down well

FestiveGanesh · 08/01/2019 16:42

Books are a great idea! I don't know quite what everyone reads but I'm sure The Works will have something suitable - it'll be easy to fit to a theme too.

Could be hard with books. My ds is just turned 9 and he doesn’t like a lot of stuff his friends do and vice versa.

For his recent birthday I gave plain white paper bags which they filled with sweets/chocolates from the piñata plus some slime.

DS is younger so the 10 for £10 worked fab but older boys I've seen joke books working fab at a party

Book people online have great deals on packs.

NigelGresley · 08/01/2019 18:41

Stationery sets? Try Wilko for those sets about £1 each with pen, pencil, ruler, eraser etc,,,

Pack of playing cards with a trick to learn

VenusClapTrap · 08/01/2019 18:42

I bought a couple of multi pack book boxes from the Book People and spread them all out at the end of the party and they chose which they wanted. Spares went in my present cupboard for future use. Joke books were the most popular, as suggested by a pp.

DC has said that there needs to be a 'magical' theme.Shock
I really don't want to do plastic tat so was trying to think outside the box a bit. Plant seeds and a pot/seedbomb, or something like that, that kids can be involved with.
Can get and decorate paper bags, so the packaging isn't an issue.

Egg magnets.

Can probably find magic joke books or magic "how to" books

Thinking about it Amazon had really cheap magic sets a while ago about card box size

Bubs101 · 10/01/2019 03:06

cheap sets of playing cards? some of those jellybeans with weird flavours?

SimplyPut · 10/01/2019 03:14

Bath bombs (six for £6 in wilko) with ribbon to jazz up.

TheBigBangRocks · 10/01/2019 07:30

Puzzle book, nice stationery, juggling balls, chocolate.

I've seen cheap magic sets but they look like they will just end up in in the bin.

I think colouring goes down well at any age. These can do your magical theme to.
