Has anyone else noticed the days are becoming ever so slightly longer ?

I know we're less than three weeks beyond the solstice but it certainly seemed a little lighter late yesterday afternoon (after the rain cleared) and also today. Admittedly, it was still quite dark in West Yorkshire until about 9 yesterday morning but there was also a lot of lowish cloud.

Joy !

I've noticed and it's certainly made me happier. I absolutely hate the dark mornings and evenings and it makes me depressed.

Also it was a nice sunny day where I lived. I walked the dog and didn't need a jumper under my jacket, just a T shirt. I actually got a bit hot walking and I don't walk fast as my dog wants to sniff every blade of grass

I've noticed too - dawn is now breaking on my drive to work rather than after I've got there!

TheToffeeTruckinTown · 08/01/2019 17:29

I have noticed and rejoiced

Chottie · 08/01/2019 17:46

Yes! isn't it wonderful! :)

legodisasterzone · 08/01/2019 17:56

I actually noticed this today and was VERY happy Smile

Willbeatjanuaryblues · 08/01/2019 17:59

Yes op! Today wash the first day I noticed it. Gives me hope.

ClashCityRocker · 08/01/2019 18:02

Yes, I've noticed.

I'm not a winter hater but going to work in the dark and coming home in the dark gets very tiresome.

Kezzie200 · 08/01/2019 18:05

I noticed it yesterday and i think its more noticeable when it meets a major time in your day. I tend to leave the office at 4.30 ans it seemed a little lighter yesterday than it had before.

Pavlova31 · 08/01/2019 18:15

A lovely sunny afternoon and lighter still longer this evening .
Suits me fine Grin

TeaByTheSeaside · 08/01/2019 18:20

Yes tonight was the first night I noticed this. I went out to the bin and realised it wasn't pitch black!

youarenotkiddingme · 08/01/2019 18:21

O get what you mean. It's certainly more noticeable the past few days that light is lasting longer.

I've decided it's because I'm back at work and so I note it's light now when I leave whereas it wasn't before the holidays.

During holidays I'm not on my usual routine so don't notice it as much iyswim?

FuzzyShadowChatter · 08/01/2019 18:24

Not really noticed, but we've had a lot of rain lately so it seems darker and greyer. I was just commenting the other day that the whole 'celebrating the light returning' isn't really working around here.

AJPTaylor · 08/01/2019 18:24

Every year. It happens

cafesociety · 08/01/2019 18:32

Yes, thank God. I wish they would stop turning the clocks back in October. It would mean less people being so affected by their mental health and SAD.

Christmasfairy07 · 08/01/2019 18:34

Yes & I love it! Saw some daffodils the other day too. Roll on Spring!

PickAChew · 08/01/2019 18:38

Yes, unlike before the holidays, Ds2 got home from school at 3:50, in daylight.

Mornings haven't started to get their act together, yet, though.

megletthesecond · 08/01/2019 18:38

Yes Smile.

AnyFucker · 08/01/2019 18:40

Yeah ! It was still light as I left work today Smile

ForalltheSaints · 08/01/2019 18:41

Would be even better if we had BST all year around.

PickAChew · 08/01/2019 18:43

Then it would still be dark here at 9am saints.

Jano69 · 08/01/2019 18:46

I noticed it yesterday and it made me really happy!!

IndigoSpritz · 08/01/2019 20:25

When the Sex Pistols signed one of their many record contracts outside Buckingham Palace at 7 a.m. on 10th March 1977, it was broad daylight. That thought has stayed with me for years !

I noticed it tonight
DPony is starting to lose her winter coat Shock Of it gets colder, I’ll have to add on an extra layer for her 😂

winsinbin · 08/01/2019 20:56

It’s lovely. I hate the short days in winter.

Alienspaceship · 08/01/2019 20:59

Yes! I noticed it today when I left work. A sign of hope (I hate winter).
