I've just watched it (late to the game I know). Is it just me who thought it was a bit crap. Cheesy, trying to be edgy but failing. I've heard so many rave reviews but I'm not having it.

Bradley Cooper was trying wayyyyyy to hard. Maybe it's because I have seen the 70s version but he was rehashing the Kris Kristofferson version of the washed up singer imo. Ga Ga may be a great artist but I wasn't feeling her either.

Maybe it's just me but I was expecting to be blown away.

Hear you OP. Thought it was basically boring. The characters were not at all engaging, particularly the Cooper character. Gaga can sing but .. meh. The music was pretty bland too. Felt absolutely nothing at the end, didn't engage with any single one of the characters.

I'd seen Bohemian Rhapsody before that and hadn't expected much, but it was far far more entertaining that ASIB. I'm hoping that ASIB not getting the Golden Globe isn't an early indicator that it'll take the Oscar! That'd be a travesty ime.

You can't beat Judy Garland and James Mason

You can't. I just watched the clip on YouTube of Judy Garland singing 'The Man Who Got Away' from that film and there was more emotion and talent in that five minutes than in the entire length of the crap 2018 version.

That is a fantastic sequence. I must watch it again soon 🎬
