Just aaarrgh. Shall I bother replying? What would you say?

His message appeared to be on the carers issues Facebook group, but when I checked the date it was supposed to have been posted there, it didn't exist. So someone else has passed it off as theirs.

I'd unfriend, and have done for sharing crap like this.

AlanThePig · 07/01/2019 11:23

I love it when people post this type of stuff, genuinely. Saves me trying to work out who the morons are. It's like a big flashing beacon of 'unfriend me'.

tellmewhenthespaceshiplands · 07/01/2019 11:42

It wasn't my dad was it OP?! He's constantly sharing crap like this and in fact at a family gathering day before NYE my mum (I love both DPs dearly but by Christ I despair of their Daily Fail brainwashing) came out with some similar rubbish and as drinks has been drunk the conversation got very political and divided, very quickly.

You can try and change idiots peoples views but as others have said, you can't argue with stupid. And I sadly include my parents in that category at times Sad

lunicorn · 07/01/2019 11:44

I know several stupid people that I'd just scroll on by from or delete. I'm just surprised at this person.

That's partly why I came off Facebook OP ... I still see those people in real life but oddly enough they aren't as vocal with these toxic opinions then ...!

purplelass · 07/01/2019 12:18

I'd unfriend, or at least hide the poster.

Life's too short to be wound up by Facebook, a friend cull can make it a lot happier place to be!

explodingkitten · 07/01/2019 12:20

I'm always surprised how many people think that posting something about poor people/ cancer/ drowned immigrants actually helps those people.

AgathaMisty · 07/01/2019 12:55

Excuse my ignorance - I'm hoping someone with greater knowledge than I have can answer me.

I've read the Concern link but it hasn't 'unboxed' any of the possible myths I've heard. I completely agree with foreign aid to fight against poverty. However, I have often read articles about the aid not actually reaching the people it should and being used to buy arms, etc by these countries' leaders.

Is there any truth to this? And if so, how can we possibly continue giving aid to these countries without its final use being properly scrutinised?
