Which Centre Parks location?

Which site is best for a toddler in June time? Happy to travel to any for a week holiday but Sherwood Forest is very local to us.

The pool, play areas and choices of restaurants are most important. Would probably just stay on site but some local attractions nearby would be if appeal.

Anyone been to a few and can recommend which site would be best for us?

They're all pretty much the same. By the time you've used the pool and cycled a little there probably won't be much time for outside attractions if you're catering to a toddlers time table.

I'd just pick the one with the least troublesome journey if travelling with a toddler.

Sherwood is great! And has a little beach on the lake.

Passthepigs · 06/01/2019 13:47

One is 20 minutes down the road so that’s the easiest journey! Just not sure it will feel like a holiday with it being so close. I’ve never stayed at any.

They are all in a forest that you've never been to. You won't know that it is 20 minutes or 20 hours away once you are in there.

I'm close to Sherwood and we always go there - we take a car full of food too as all restaurants are a bit crappy (except Cafe Rouge) but that's fine as we love cooking anyway

4point2fleet · 06/01/2019 13:53

I'd definitely just go to the closest one. There is plenty to do, you won't need off site stuff.

That said, Longleat has a new toddler area in the pool. It's massive and looks really good. Don't know if they all have such a big toddler area. If not, it would definitely be in Longleat's favour.

Longleat

Sherwood. You will really enjoy the break - it won't feel near. There's a lot to be said for not having a big journey.
Sherwood is flat, Longleat lots of hills - love it there but better with older ones. Woburn is smaller - best for Winter. People rave about Elveden.

Ballbags · 06/01/2019 14:15

I've done quite a lot of research and the general consensus is Longleat is the best. Eleveden is a bit tatty, Woburn a bit barren, no outside pool, small but very.hilly (Longleat is too but fine if you are in Pine).

YouLostTheGame · 06/01/2019 14:18

We are off to whinfell in February, been there before and although I did enjoy it we mainly chose that one again as it’s closest to us (2 hour drive) I’ve heard great things about Sherwood though and we are going to plan that one for next time.

DeRigueurMortis · 06/01/2019 14:24

If the decision is between Sherwood and Whinfell the only real difference between them is the dome.

In Sherwood it just encompasses the pool.

In Whinfell it covers the whole village centre and the pool area is also bigger.

Essentially what that means is that the latter is arguably better in poor weather, but conversely in good weather it's harder to be outside to enjoy it (eating outside for example).

Aside from that there's nothing really to choose between them. All the facilities and accommodation are broadly comparable.

In terms of feeling on holiday once you are there it could be 20 mins from home or 2 hours.

If you're going in summer I'd personally choose Sherwood and see the low travel time with a toddler as a real bonus.

Flippntuck · 06/01/2019 14:31

We wondered the same about whether going to one so close would make us feel like we were on holiday (also Sherwood, only 15 mins away) but we went and it very very much felt like we were on holiday! Go for it!

mmmgoats · 06/01/2019 14:33

Woburn is terrible, small with a sorry excuse for a forest and walking trail - I guess because it’s new. Didn’t enjoy it at all and thought it was really overpriced - the restaurant quality and service was also terrible so do take
Your own food!

Dangerousplan · 06/01/2019 14:40

Been to all of them and Sherwood is our favourite.

Everything is in the centre, unlike Longleat where Jardin de Sport is miles away down a big hill! You don't actually need bikes. Everywhere is walkable with a pushchair. There are lots of little paths which shortcut to the centre.

Pool is just fab. Good toddlers section with mini slides.
Beach with fantastic play areas for all ages, including a little island with rope Bridge

Great kids disco by bowling alley.

All free.

CP is a bubble, you will feel miles from home anyway.
