How to Cook a beef joint?

Hi

Anyone got tips on cooking a beef joint to make it nice and soft.

Ds has SN and only eats meat when it's really soft and it can't be pink.

Was going to do it in the slow cooker, but I don't have enough time before dinner now

Was thinking of sealing it in a hit pan then in the oven, quite low with some water in and covered in foil. That's how I do my pork chops.

Does that sound ok? Any tips would be appreciated.

That sounds perfect to me.

you need wine in there and lots of black pepper. maybe worcestershire sauce. stock, thyme, garlic, onions
Just in water is going to be horribly bland

I did a joint of beef in my slow cooker at Christmas. I put it in and covered it in beef stock and cooked it on low for 6.5 to 7 hours. No pinkness and the meat was very tender. The gravy was yummy too 😊

Thank you for you help.

Yep it probably will be bland, but if I can convince ds to try I am ok with that.

Might try and add some other it's he does like to make it tastier. Grin

I just wrap in foil put in the oven on a low heat for a long time. No pink meat in this house, no one likes it that way.
themoomoo that sound delicious will do that next time.

You could make a paste of garlic purée and English mustard and slather the outside of the joint in it before you foil it up. It goes tremendously sweet on the outside and has a lovely flavour. All my children eat it, however none of them are keen on meat whatsoever so it's always a bit of a winner for me Smile

FatandSassy that sounds lush. I would definitely eat that.

Definitely trying that if I do beef again and ds is at his dad's. I am trying to get him saying the same as me and dp. So me and Dp agreed to eat food how he likes it for now, then start adding more flavours etc.

His sensory issues around food have been a little better since we started this.
