Cleaning oven weekly

NewAndImprovedMe41 · 06/01/2019 10:12

So I have a new oven and want to wipe it clean weekly before it gets bad.

What should I use to clean? I don't want a chemical cleaner because it won't be that bad. Would a damp cloth be sufficient?

I'm going to look for a spray later in the shops that'll make it smell nice but some suggestions would be good.

Cheers.

I had a new oven a year ago and vowed to keep on top of it! Which I have done and it's like brand new still..
But no, even after a couple uses anything that spits slightly gets instantly baked on.. I use mr. Muscle (the aerosol oven cleaner)

I purchased a metal oven scraper after a recommendation, I was dubious as thought it may scratch, it's a god send!!

Cleaning ovens weekly... is it bad that I can't actually remember when I last cleaned my oven Grin

Buy oven liners from amazon. They really help to keep the bottom clean.

First is it a self cleaning oven because these get ruined with spray.
Get a silicon sheet for the oven floor then you can just take out and wash clean,Lakeland do them.
The inside of the door just cleans with hot soapy water and occasionally take out for a good scrub.

Dip a dishwasher tablet in warm water for two seconds and use that to scrub off any nasties that get baked on to the glass. You'll need gloves but it works.

Lemon juice and bicarbonate of soda. Although seeing what lemon juice does to baked on fat makes me fear for my teeth Confused

@IceRebel it was a blessing in disguise. The last oven probably had the DNA of the first chicken I ever cooked in it still. Shock

@Bigonesmallone3 thank you, I'll keep an eye out. I know it won't be spotless, but a small clean weekly is better then a big clean every other year.
