Plaster on the hinges. Sexy.

CluedoAddict · 06/01/2019 07:51

I have long hair and this has never happened to me in 26 years of wearing glasses.

Ifailed · 06/01/2019 07:53

get a pair of pince-nez.

treaclesoda · 06/01/2019 07:54

This drives me mad too. I am constantly pulling bits of hair out when I take my glasses off.

AveAtqueVale · 06/01/2019 08:49

Laser eye surgery Grin.

Mari50 · 06/01/2019 09:19

Keeping your glasses on.
I get hair caught in mine but I have to take my glasses on and off multiple times through the day. If they’re where they should be I have no problems.
If you’re the same as me and have to take them on and off then contact lenses may be an option. I’m not great with lenses though as I have pretty dry eyes and when I concentrate I forget to blink which makes things worse....

RandomMess · 06/01/2019 09:24

Some hinges seem worse than others my current glasses are way better than the previous pair.

dudsville · 06/01/2019 09:26

Hm, just realised i haven't had this problem in a while but it is an annoying thing. Op, if you can identify which hinges do this morr than others you can patent the knowledge and retire!

this!

RandomMess · 06/01/2019 09:30

With great difficulty because I cannot see without glasses on it would appear the interlink bit is pretty hidden on this pair. When they are on the outside is completely flat and inside is fairly smooth...

I've been wearing glasses for 30 years and this never happened to me until I got my current pair - took me about 6 months to work out why I had broken hair near the front of my face. It drives me MAD!

Processedpea · 06/01/2019 10:04

I would break those rimless glasses but random.s ones look great unfortunately I have to make do with my usual as they are v expensive varifocals do still looking for a solution!

I expect if you have long hair it isn't an issue but have a longer fringe that I am growing out

Hair gel Xmas Smile

RandomMess · 06/01/2019 10:06

These glasses are my horrificly expensive varifocals (first pair) I find them so heavy Sad

MoreHairyThanScary · 06/01/2019 10:12

I wear glasses al day every day and rarely have this problem but this pair of glasses has quite tight hinges, and I wonder if yours are looser the hinge is opening and closing just enough to trap the hair iyswim? It may be worth getting the hinges tightened?

SageMist · 06/01/2019 10:15

I've worn glasses for over 50 years and until recently I've had the hair trapped in glasses hinge problem too.
But, thanks to your post, I have just realised that I haven't for a while now.
The only thing different is that I've been growing my hair. I've had short hair all my life but It's now at collar bone length and doesn't get trapped anymore. So that's an answer, grow your hair.

bananamonkey · 06/01/2019 10:27

It’s my fringe that always gets trapped, so bloody annoying! My toddler has bent my glasses out of shape though which I think has made it worse.

Oblomov18 · 06/01/2019 10:33

Hate it too.

amusedbush · 06/01/2019 11:21

My current glasses don’t do this, but I only really wear them in the evening as I wear contacts during the day.

These are quite tight all over (snug fit on my face, tightly closed hinges) so maybe that helps.

kew522 · 23/03/2020 04:38

I finally got some new glasses and finally felt relieved of the constant hair pulling from my last pair. But now my new ones are starting to do it. I think I need to tighten them back up and hopefully that will stop it. I hope this helps

Bridge of nose part of glasses getting tangled up in my hair and breaking my hair. Need my glasses with me constantly which are worn on and off every day and worn atop my head when not being worn so I know exactly where they are. However in doing that the two prongs that grip either side of nose end end up entangled in my hair and so badly the glasses tear strands of my baby fine hair out. Thought of maybe wearing a material headband to prevent it happening, though material headbands always ping off my head. Any other suggestions? And replies of "Don't wear them on top of your head then" will not be helpful as they must be atop my head to be found instantly and not get lost as soon as I on autopilot put them down some unknown where and have to waste 30 mins - 24 hours plus trying to find them. Already lost 3 other pairs by not wearing them in the way I do. It is absolutely driving me crackers this constant destruction of my hair and constant palava of excessive amounts of time being wasted trying to untangle my glasses from my hair without having to cut fine chunks out of my hair just to be able to read this blummin daddy writing on almost all objects/food items/clothing labels these days. Can't afford contacts or laser eye surgery and the thought of contacts in my eyes freaks me out as with having memory issues I would definitely forget they were in my eyes. And yes I know I am replying to a 5 or 6 year old post. Though one which is still about a relevant issue for many glasses wearers like myself even now in April 2024. Just want your ideas, solutions you all use yourselves or a product item maybe found that prevents this issue. Tia.
