Imaginary Friends

For those of you who have had DC with imaginary friends, when did they develop them? DD is 17 months and has been pretending to eat food and carry out actions she has seen for a good 3 months now. Recently it's extended to offering toys her food or milk, she even had me try to BF her teddy this week. However, yesterday evening she looked into space in the middle of the room, smiled and pretended to give someone her bottle by tipping it slightly, she tends to make a noise signifying they are drinking or eating so I knew that was what she was doing. Is it normal for this age? I thought it was quite young for imaginary friends.

My niece is acting similar, shes just turned one but we believe it is a spirit or something as she sits and chats to the 'man' I personally wouldnt worry too much, she clearly has a very strong imagination, many kids have imaginary friends, sure it seems very early but im sure its not a bad thing at all

Yesterday it sounds like she was just remembering something and then reinacted that memory. Completely normal. Imaginary friends are also normal,l. It's good for their social and emotional development. Lets them go over different social scenerios in different ways.
