Where to go on holiday with elderly relative and DC?

My Gran is 80 years old and lost my Grandad early last year. She has, understandably, been a bit low over the last few weeks. The bad weather (she loves her garden) and christmas haven't helped. DH and I would really like to take her away somewhere for a few days this summer as we think she needs something to look forward to and a change of scenery.

We are a bit clueless when it comes to UK holiday destinations as we usually go abroad but this would be too much for DGM. So we need to find somewhere in this country that's suitable for an 80 year old, a 5yo and a baby who will be about 9 months. We want somewhere that isn't remote but isn't too crowded either. We will want to get out and about but don't want to be dragging DGM around noisy theme parks. I'm thinking NT properties, nice parks and gardens, afternoon tea, museums, bit of shopping, that type of thing.

My Gran is mentally very sharp and generally in good health but she does get tired if she does too much walking.

Any suggestions for holiday destinations would be very gratefully received! Thank you Smile

Cotswolds or Somerset would be my suggestion.

Scottish Borders, lovely small towns, beautiful countryside, houses and castles to visit, friendly people
