Do I need an Instant Pot?

I've heard a little bit about instant pots and on the blurb they sound quite good. I'm a mum to a very clingy one year old and I look after him more or less single handedly through the week. A big challenge at the moment is making sure we both get three nutritious meals a day. My DS gets upset if I'm ignoring him for too long whilst making food and I sometimes find it hard to make sure he has his evening meal early enough to get to bed on time.

Could an instant pot help in this way or even end up being a hindrance? I'd love to hear from people in a similar position who have one, and any favourite recipes would be great fully received.

@Ladominate14

I have a colander that sits over the Instant Pot bowl, a muslin square cut a bit bigger than the colander and a wide, round, 1.5L cliplock tub.

When the yogurt is done ( I make 2L at a time), I place the colander with the muslin inside it into a big bowl to catch drips, tip all the yogurt in, quickly wash out the pot, lift the colander onto the pot and very carefully lift the whole thing inside the IP again, with it switched off. I fold the edges of the msulin over so they are not hanging over the sides, otherwise they leak. I then pop the lid over it and leave it for a few hours. There is no real need for it to be in the IP but it saves space.

Typically I make the yogurt overnight, set up the straining in the morning and it is done by the time I get home from work. When it is strained, I get my big cliplock tub, carefully lift the muslin and tip the yogurt in - the wide diameter makes this step easier. Rinse the muslin and pop it in the wash for next time. It is easier than it sounds but a bit trial and error at first.

Spiderbabymum I've got the Cosori (both 2l and 6l versions) which I bought from amazon. They both have stainless steel inner pots and come with a trivet and additional glass lid.

But tbh all the cheap Chinese instapots on amazon look very very similar.

I got for Christmas and think it's bloody brilliant. I was a bit scared of it at first but I've made risotto, curry, cooked a gammon and made a cheesecake. It's bloody fantastic!

I bough one a few months ago & then bought my mum one for Christmas.

I love risotto, macaroni cheese & yogurt in it- I use normal milk - you need to boil the milk in the IP - easy & check temp with digital thermometer then cool a bit & back into IP after adding some yogurt starter. Then strain with muslin like pp says.

Did chicken stock for the first time a couple of days ago & it was vg

Also after some new quick/easy recipes so watching with interest

Yes. But get the instant pot brand.
