Can a pharmacist help

I am a hcp and feel a bit silly asking as I should know but I've been on sertraline and when taking my decorations down and doing a bit of a post Christmas scrub I have lost my tablets.
This was Wednesday and I thought I'd be fine but this is 3rd night of no sleep at all.
I don't know if it's because I haven't taken them or I'm anxious about losing them but I am exhausted and worried now.
Does anyone know if I could go to the chemist today or do I need to wait till Monday and see my gp.
I know I've been careless but I've been struggling a lot lately and have a mental health assessment next week. I just want some sleep. Even a couple hours would help me

I think if you call 111 they can sort an emergency prescription (not 100%). I know a chemist I lived near will do an emergency supply for you. It is not a drug to come off instantly like that.

Hi, how long have you been on the sertraline? If it's a regular medication and you have an old box/repeat slip, the pharmacist may be able to issue an emergency supply. It's up to their professional judgement, but there's no harm speaking to your regular pharmacist.

Alternatively you can ring 111 and go through the out of hours service, but it will probably take a lot longer.

Thanks for the advice. I've only been on them a few weeks so don't have a regular prescription. I'll try 111 I think.
I reckon it's the worry of not taking them and assuming that's the reason for this insomnia

Hi,

I've gone without similar medication before. You may be able to get an emergency prescription. However if not, you could look to try Phenergen for a few days until you can get your meds again. It's an antihistamine with sedative properties, so it should help you sleep at night. Try a small dose at night and see if that helps. You can buy it over the counter. Obviously I'm not medically trained, but it's what I've used in the past.

@blackladybug thank you will try that if I can't get the prescription

Some people here are giving completely false advice regarding 111 service. The 111 service does NOT give prescriptions, what they do is send a request to a pharmacy and then it is completely up to a pharmacist whether to supply or not. The people you speak up on the 111 service are not even a healthcare profession most of the time.

However, OP, do not worry. All you need to do is walk into any chemist and just ask for an emergency supply. You do no need to contact 111. If you have any repeat slips for your prescriptions, take it with you. If you do not have that, then the pharmacist may first check you SCR (summary care record) and then prescribe the medication for you.
