Does anyone have a really good slow cooker that they love? Want to buy one but they all look the same Hmm

This thread is quite old now, but we’ve recently refreshed our best slow cooker page with plenty of high-quality options Mumsnetters love. We hope you find it useful.

Mine is the cheapest Morphy Richards one, it's lasted 5 years being used a lot and is great.

I have a Crockpot with a ‘hot’ temp, ‘warm’ temp & a ‘keep warm’ temp. It’s very good, I’m pleased with it but the hottest setting does seem to cook quite quickly so I tend to use the middle setting for about 6-8 hours instead.

I was advised to get a ceramic one because the steel ones can sometimes make the food taste metallic.

I use a timer so it comes on at lunchtime and is ready 7pm ish.

Thank you guys! Will have a look at both. Do want a reliable one that will last, and also like the sound of a 'keep warm' setting. Wouldn't have thought to look for that!

They are all basically the same

My cheap Argos one (£8) which my nan gave me is still going strong 8 years later

Can you stretch to a programmable pressure cooker? I got mine from Aldi (Ambiano range I think) for about £25. It has a slow cooker function, but you can also pressure cook which I find tastes better.

@SpaceCadet4000 had literally never heard of a pressure cooker before! Had a search and seeing a lot of articles saying it's actually the more convenient option. Think it'd be worth the extra spend

I had a ceramic one that was a wedding parents to my parents - it was decades old and only had two settings. I absolutely loved it. My “Homer Simpson” Dad broke it! I now have a metallic one but I don’t think it’s as good. With both of them I never add much stock.
