Following on from Luther...

Was lying awake last night after watching part 3 of Luther and thinking about the plot and premise and in particular HN’s character’s comment about everyone has a dark secret or fantasy that they wouldn’t like to admit and it got me thinking...

How many psychopaths, creeps or even just those who are a bit odd are hidden among us in everyday life, the lollipop lady, local GP or even next door neighbour (who in our case is a bit weird) who’s to say they are not harbouring, fantasising or planning dark thoughts...

(Obviously I realise how fetched Luther and similar type programmes are, 3am breeches of peace and teenage pickpockets don’t make good TV)

So wondering has anyone ever been creeped out or removed theirselves for a situation or service due to a bad feelign/vibe, or have you ever reported anyone for strange and creepy behaviour...

Me! I got a really creepy/sinister vibe from a takeaway owner in Amsterdam. My friend was waiting on food and I stood in the doorway/outside. He kept insisting I came in and sat down which I refused. Normally I go in and plonk myself down but something told me not to. Eventually my friend got the food and we left. The owner was quite aggressive. When we walked away I mentioned my weird feeling and said there was no way I was going to go into that shop and my friend then told me she’d heard the man tell another member of staff to ‘grab them by the arms’ Shock

Oh god that awful!!

Isn’t funny how your subconscious just knows that some situations aren’t right...

Our neighbour is quite odd, I can’t put my finger on it and I’m sure some would just describe him as really friendly, but when a grown man refers to his cats as “his pussy’s” while leaning on your door frame into your house it downs tend to make you feel a bit unerved...

Thankfull we have a fairly big dog who doesn’t particularly like him either and always growls when he is about so I feel pretty safe!

Anyone else?

My ex BIL. Being in the same room as him made my skin crawl, every time. I knew he was all kinds of fucked up so not sure if it counts but I had a very strong feeling there was much more about him no one knew. If I saw his mug shot on the news and they’d found a load of bodies somewhere he was responsible for I wouldn’t be remotely surprised. Just awful. I haven’t seen him for years but I’ll never forget the absence of human warmth in him.

Ooo Anne that’s awful, did you have to socialise with him much?

Not socialise at all, my XH hated him and had been scared of him all his life so we kept contact to a minimum. But he still lived at home, was always hanging around pretty much controlling my MIL. The whole thing was harrowing tbh.

He’s been in trouble with the police for harassing women and was a deeply unpleasant person. He’d terrorised my ex when they were children and I loathed him before I even met him but the reality face to face was much worse than I’d expected.

Some people are missing whatever it is that makes the rest of us human. I don’t want to throw terms around but he just wasn’t right somewhere in his head and was cold and cruel lacking any compassion. Gives me bad shivers.
