Binning a trad purse for just a card holder

PouchofDouglas · 04/01/2019 08:50

I largely don’t use cash at all, either Apple Pay on my phone or my debit card. I’ve got all my loyalty cards on the Stocard app. Has anybody else binned their traditional purse?

Oliver Bonas stocks card holders ( leather ones and bright colours ).

I use a card holder for my travel card and debit card, rarely have cash/coins on me.

Totally mumsy

Thanks @Torsz. Will download. Tried to type this with thumbs but definitely can't get down with the kids on that one!

BestIsWest · 04/01/2019 10:24

Did it last year. Brilliant. All my change now goes in coat pockets, into a holder in the car, a pot in the house or the bottom of my handbag.

BestIsWest · 04/01/2019 10:24

Also got stocard on my phone.

OxanaVorontsova · 04/01/2019 10:28

I did this last year no regrets - not sure what I used to put in huge purse tbh. Have bag full of receipts though Hmm

Torsz · 04/01/2019 10:29

Haha no worries @ourkidmolly - I suspect it would be difficult to switch between the two, but I'm not sure why there's a tendency for people to do it one way or the other in the first place! Very odd ☺️

chickhonhoneybabe · 04/01/2019 10:31

How is a flip phone case mumsy? The case opens up so you can use the phone, and it’s got slots in it fit cards and money. How is that mumsy? 🤷‍♀️

Anyway, I’ve bought a wristlet that is a purse/phone case so everything is together, so guess that’s even more mumsy for you...

ErrolTheDragon · 04/01/2019 10:33

I have a metal RFID-protective card case and a very small change purse. This combination works well for me. I have a small shoulder bag - in addition to the case, purse and keys I need to carry reading glasses with me nowadays.

astoundedgoat · 04/01/2019 11:07

I've done this - such a great change. I bought it in And Other Stories - it has a zip around it and is very smart. Nice colours too. It has Pochette pour Argent de Poche printed in gold.

I just have my debit card, gym card a couple of others and that's it. I also use Apple Pay mostly.

I agree that giant purses (and phone cases!) are Mumsy. I like a very small handbag.

MargueritaPink · 04/01/2019 11:13

I'm horrified by the idea of keeping credit and debit cards in the same case as a phone. I have scanned all loyalty cards on to the stocard app but credit , debit cards and driving licence are kept in a card holder separate from my phone and cash is kept in a separate purse.

babysharkah · 04/01/2019 11:15

I have a tiny purse, it's from radley, fits a few cards and that's it. It's all I need and I love not carting a giant purse around with me anymore. I also don't need to take my debit card out to do contactless / oyster just tap the purse on.

CherryBlossom23 · 04/01/2019 11:16

Fossil have some really nice card holders and also mini wallets, which is what I use. Like a small, slimline wallet with room for 6 cards, notes and a small change section. I love mine, it feels so sleek compared to my old wallet.

picklemebaubles · 04/01/2019 11:17

Hard shell card holder with a tenner in, and a separate coin purse- very small and neat, like a child's one. I put notes in that, too.

I use the "swipe" input for Android phones - is that "mumsy" (to be honest anyone who declares something is "mumsy" isn't someone whose opinion I'd care tuppence about)

Torsz · 04/01/2019 11:32

@MargueritaPink I wasn't saying it as an insult, just an observation that my parents, in laws etc type with their forefingers whereas my friends etc (we're early 30s so not young and I'm about to be a mum so wouldn't take offence at being 'mumsy' anyway) type with our thumbs. I don't think either is better than the other, I just find it quicker and easier to type with my thumbs as that's what I've always done.
My husband uses the swipe android thing - I have an iPhone and really struggle to use his phone 😂

Racecardriver · 04/01/2019 11:33

I have a baby purse. It’s basically a card holder that zips out. I’d never own a wallet again.

Racecardriver · 04/01/2019 11:35

Will have to pass on the mumsy memo to my DH and DF though!

PouchofDouglas · 04/01/2019 12:54

Lol at not caring about mumsy. Yet REALLY CARING

You watch middle aged people they jab at their phones with forefingers. It’s a truism

DerelictWreck · 04/01/2019 13:00

Are you all carrying around a mountain of receipts?!

Why?

Baaaaala · 04/01/2019 13:04

Grin I do lots of outside work so phone case that covers screen is a must, would rather look "mumsie" then have a busted screen!
