I got a nice round 50 and I'm slightly freaked out- if I don't read the other 50 can I still alive longer?!

I did cheat slightly and tick both the Bible and Shakespeare.... I've read the greatest hits, as it were.

Who says these books are good though. Most of them are an acquired taste imo.
I've read 25 of them and no desire to bother with the rest

ErrolTheDragon · 04/01/2019 01:10

47, and a couple I started and do intend to finish.

Are some included not for their literary merit but as 'cultural references' ... in which case having seen the film or a play might suffice...

Any list which includes Dan Brown but no Terry Pritchett has badly warped priorities though.Grin

ErrolTheDragon · 04/01/2019 01:11

Pratchett... wtf, my autocorrect is warped too.Hmm

junebirthdaygirl · 04/01/2019 03:59

50 for me but at least 20 were required reading for school and a degree in English. Enjoyed most of them but a few l couldn't see how they made the list. De Vinci Code would be on my list of 10 worst book ever. Love Hardy though.

BeardedMum · 04/01/2019 04:32

17 and I read a lot and thought I was relatively well read tooShock

lljkk · 04/01/2019 04:45

Bridget Jones is my WTF choice.

Redglitter · 04/01/2019 05:00

22 - and dont intend to read any more of them

caesio · 04/01/2019 05:48

72, as PP don't agree with some but others are favourites.
Have included Shakespeare/Bible as read a fair proportion.
Didn't finish War and Peace/Crime&P but gave them a good go so included

A few I haven't heard of at all so will add them to my list to have a look at Smile. Thanks OP.

thedishonthecoffeetable · 04/01/2019 06:06

18 and probably wont read any of the rest. I do read a lot though.

Koalablue · 04/01/2019 06:31
  1. Maybe this should be my new years resolution.
bengalcat · 04/01/2019 06:38

  1. Left out the Bible, though I've read lots of it, and Shakespeare, though I've read most of his work.
BoneyBackJefferson · 04/01/2019 06:57

I would rather read books that I enjoy than a pre-determined list of which some are over egged rubbish.

It also invalidates a list of 100 books when it includes at least three series taking the total to 115 (ish)

echt · 04/01/2019 06:59

The Time Traveller's Wife???? Surely not.

The Kite Runner? Shite Runner more like it.

ArtemesiaDracunculus · 04/01/2019 07:01

Apparently I've read 43, but it might be more than that - some childhood books I can't remember whether I have read them or not. Slightly odd list, especially as I am an avid reader and have read loads, inc classics.

idsisatwat · 04/01/2019 07:01

61, so not too bad. Don’t think I’m ever going to get round to reading the bible or complete works of Shakespeare! I’ve read some of the plays, but not all of them!

ThursdayNextIsMyHero · 04/01/2019 07:09

72, but have included Midnight's Children (have read most of it several times but just never managed to finish it) and The Bible and Shakespeare (read some of them and other bits and lots in other formats (Tales from Shakespeare, etc.). Have not read any Charles Dickens (tried one or two, but couldn't get into it).

Soomanybooks · 04/01/2019 07:09

85 and the interesting parts of the Bible.

usernamenamename · 04/01/2019 07:12

4 Blush and about 20 that I started reading and gave up. Lots that I'd like to read though!

Summerisdone · 04/01/2019 07:16

I've read 21 of them (including the Bible and Shakespeare, I did so much of them both in school that I want the credit), and I've watched the movie/TV series of 38 of them.

There's quite a few of there that I realised I know about so well, that I actually had to think if I've ever read them or not.

Livpool · 04/01/2019 07:17

Only 25 - need to get into!
