Why are my feet so itchy?

It's driving me mad! I have lots of tiny little spots on the soles of my feet that itch like crazy Sad It's been going on for ages, but only at night. But strangely enough it stopped when I got pregnant, it came back after DS was born, now my son is 6m old and it's been slowly getting worse, it's almost unbearable now!

I've got a doctors appointment next week for an unrelated thing but I'll ask him about my feet when I'm there. I just wondered if anyone had any ideas as to what it could be? I Googled and Dyshidrotic eczema came up, but it doesn't really fit that properly, it's spots so tiny they're more like dots and there haven't been any blisters at all.

Hand foot and mouth? Maybe not if you've had it a while

Does it ease off when your feet are cool but get worse when they warm up? If so,it could be chilblains.

I’ve got dishydrotic eczema (pompholyx) and the blisters don’t really resemble blisters per se. Post a pic for the sporners!

Althletes foot?

Jenniferturkington · 03/01/2019 20:09

I get this. I think it’s called dishydrosis? Insanely itchy- I often make myself bleed through scratching so much. Bizarrely I only ever get it on one foot and only in flare-ups. Mine also first appeared in my first pregnancy. It is definitely worse in summer too.
To the poster asking for a photo- if op’s is anything like mine, it doesn’t look much at all. They are tiny hard lumps beneath the surface.
I find that the athletes foot spray powder and cream sometimes help, sudocrem also eases it a bit. But generally it just has to run its course. Sympathies op, it drives me crazy.

Ooh @Jenniferturkington yes that sounds familiar! Insanely itchy, tiny hard lumps that you can't really see. Mine disappeared in pregnancy though!

@LookImAHooman I will post a pic tomorrow (if I remember :o) but as Jennifer said, there really isn't anything to see! It's quite disappointing.

I don't think it's HFM or Athletes foot though.

Jennifer I know - I have the same. But it’s a lot easier for people to make a call with a pic!

I’ve only had it since I had DC2. Never ceases to amaze me what weird and seemingly unrelated things pregnancy can screw right up...

LookImAHooman · 03/01/2019 21:08

Tip if you ever do want a photo, though - bright light (ideally natural) and a decent phone camera or more. It’ll show up a lot not visible easily to the naked eye.

LookImAHooman · 03/01/2019 21:13

Cannot quite believe I’m doing this but there you go.

Maybe worth at least trying athletes foot cream whilst waiting for gp?

Yabbers · 03/01/2019 21:26

I have that! According to my GP it is plantar dermatitis. I tried everything on it but the only thing that has worked is the steroid cream GP prescribed. Mine looks a bit more red than yours but yours looks like how it started. I've had it for months, only saw the doc about it before Christmas.

It's called pomphylox. It's a type of eczema or dermatitis.
You predominantly get it on your soles and palms.
Starts a tiny little red spots, itches like hell, especially at night. Then skin starts to peel off.
You need steroid cream, yiy can buy hydrocortisone 1% over the counter, so get some tomorrow and start using it twice a day.
When you see your gp tell them as it may need stronger prescription steroids.

I am a gp and see this quite often.
