Plough on with Msc or just do my BSc
Apologies in advance if this is complicated.
I’m currently doing an MSc Psychology course through distance learning. I started in January 2018 and I’m credits in. I’ve enjoyed the course at times but have also found it very stressful. I naively underestimated the difficulty of doing a masters in a subject I had no prior knowledge/ background in.
I’m working on a research report, presentation and essay all due in a couple of weeks.
I’ve just received formative feedback on my essay and it appears I’ve not done the essay right at all, the tutor says my writing style isn’t clear and is missing research.
I’ve got time to make changes to my essay but I’m not confident at all.
Alongside the MSc I’m also doing an BSc psychology degree with the OU. ( I hadn’t realised you could get funding for a second degree before I enrolled on the Msc).
I’m loving doing the BSc as it’s so much more manageable and there’s lots more support. My first degree was with the OU so I’m used to that style of learning.
Now I’m torn what to do. I feel like I won’t pass my Msc modules so I’m contemplating just sticking with my OU degree. I could get it done in about 3 years and I feel like it might give me a better grounding.
The end goal is to go into educational psychology even though I know the doctorate courses are very competitive.
Do I just need a kick up the arse to do my MSc? Is it pre deadline nerves?
I know no one can really tell me what to do but I can’t to talk to anyone in real life about it.
