Has anyone got any ideas what this means?

2 people have said this to me now. 1 was a geordie mate of mine so maybe it's a northern thing?

I'm from Brighton myself. Everyone I ask has no idea and nothing on Google.

So maybe someone on here can help me out? Thanks.

No idea but I love it!

Haha, sounds hilarious. But who knows whether it's rude or complimentary?!

XmasHolly · 02/01/2019 16:11

Ask your friend what it means? I had to ask a friend who kept referring to my daughter as a "wee dote" just to check it was a compliment! Grin

@XmasHolly I didn't want to sound silly. Ironic really Grin

I don't think it's offensive, they said it in a joking way.

No idea, and we're a family of Geordies (lived up there for first 35 years of my life) and never heard anyone up there say it over that time. We lived slightly north of Newcastle, up in Northumberland, and dh used to work in the toon, so where your friend picked it up from I do not know. Maybe it's from nearby rival Sunderland or over the borders up north into the forrin country we call Scotland.

Would be intrigued to know if it is a northern phrase and what it means though.
