Convince me not to cancel my dentist appointment tomorrow!

I've booked a dental appointment for tomorrow morning and I'm on the verge of cancelling...

I've not been for only a couple of years but my teeth have deteriorated significantly in that time. I have a condition that causes poor circulation (including to gums) which can lead to weakened tooth structure. Added to this, the medication for said condition causes tooth decay as a side effect. I have a few teeth that have broken at the gumline, one almost completely. I currently have an abscess although it's causing no discomfort. I've put off going as I was pregnant so wanted to avoid unnecessary procedures/drugs etc (and morning sickness probably hasn't helped my teeth either) but baby is here now so I really have no excuse, other than being incredibly embarrassed and ashamed by the state that my teeth have got into over a relatively short period of time.

Tell me I'd be stupid to cancel my appointment and to just suck it up and get on with it Blush

Update!

Went to the dental centre at the hospital and they were lovely. Gave me a prescription for antibiotics, told me to tell them they need to see me sooner than 2 weeks time as I'm a new breast feeding mum with a condition that leaves me at high risk of serious cardiac complications as a result of the abscess. She also said that it's clear my issues are caused by my condition/medication as the healthy teeth are very healthy and obviously otherwise well looked after and not to let them just take out the damaged ones, get them to reconstruct them (amazingly, the thinks that even the one that's totally broken off at the gumline should be able to be rebuilt). She also said I have over errupted lower wisdom teeth so whilst not urgent, get them to extract them before my exemption runs out!

So glad you're feeling more positive about it now, OP. Now to get that appointment brought forward!

Erupted...MN needs to invest in an edit button

Yes, do what they say - you need to get as much as you can done and the follow up before your exemption runs out. They have given good advice.

I've always been private before so this is all new. My exemption runs until December this year so should be sufficient time
