Ectopic pregnancy

I'm so sad, been TTC for 2+ years properly though it's more like 6 on and off. I went to the fertility clinic and was given Metformin with the view to starting clomid but by some miracle I got pregnant. However they couldn't find it and had to have larascopy and my right tube removed as it was in there. I'd had no symptoms, I was 9.5 weeks. I never ovulate and I'm so gutted, feel like it's going to be even harder now.

@someone1991

Sorry to hear about your ectopic. I had an ectopic too 7 months ago and had to have my left tube removed. I’m currently 7 and a half weeks pregnant however having conceived our fourth cycle trying after the ectopic . Don’t give up hope, having one tube doesn’t mean you can’t get pregnant!
My daughter who is 5 actually took 20 months to conceive so strangely it’s taken less time with only one tube.

I’d definitely recommend joining a Facebook group for those ttc after an ectopic. It’s called ‘ttc after an ectopic pregnancy’

Good luck to you.

I had an ectopic and had my left tube removed many years ago - and was pregnant with my son within a year.

You may find it easier to conceive from here on out. An ectopic is a normal pregnancy in every way, except that it implants in the wrong place. So having conceived recently, your body may have been given the hormonal boost it needs to do it again quite quickly.

But in any event, everyone I have ever spoken to that had an ectopic and had a tube removed went on to conceive normally at some point. So you have every reason to be hopeful.

Sorry this has happened to you. I had an ectopic and lost a tube in 2015 and got pregnant twice after that -1 successful. She's almost a year old now.

@charlyn, thank you for your lovely message and so lovely to hear you had a positive outcome! That lovely outcome make me feel so much better. It all seemed so rushed in the hospital, sort of in and out and no real mention of the future so it's good to hear from people that have been through it. Thank you again and congratulations on your lovely news x

@TwitToWoo, thank you for replying to my post. The way you have described that has made me feel so much better than I thought I could,I was so disappointed and angry at my body when actually it did do most of it right (and I'd always worried I'd never ovulate). I read that to my husband too, it's helped us and makes sense. I just pray if I continue taking Metformin my body may now especially given this know what it needs to do and do what it's meant to. Fingers crossed. Got to ring fertility clinic, they don't know I had ectopic as we thought was a miscarriage. So glad you got your son, that's brilliant, I will try to stay hopeful, I feel more so now lovely strangers have taken the time to write to.me, it means so much, thank you x

@ElsaMars, thank you that's kind of you to reply to my post. It's so so lovely to read hopeful stories of people who have been through this, I don't know anyone that has an ectopic and speaking to people that have and understand the pain and have come out the other side . So lovely that you got your baby girl , thank you for sharing your story x

Hi Someone
I had an ectopic in 2013 and had my right tube removed. My consultant advised me not to try for 3 months. I got pregnant my second month after that. I also have another one now. She took longer to conceive almost a year but still no worse than most people. I actually got accidently pregnant too, on the patch, but unfortunately miscarried. So 3 pregnancies in 3 years isnt bad with only 1 tube. Best of luck. Don't worry its so horrific at the start but I promise it becomes more bearable.

There is some fertility professor who talked about how, when a woman loses one tube, the other tube can actually swing across the body and catch an egg from the other side. Professor Winston?
