Anybody do weekly meal plans? Care to share yours?

I try and be organised and do a weekly meal plans and find that it is the most boring uninspiring task. I want to plan to help save money and reduce food waste. DH is useless and just says something helpful like “pasta, eggs and something with mince”. I’m trying to cut down on meat and eat lower calorie food (blame my neighbour who keeps slyly glimpsing at my tummy trying to work out if I’m fat or pregnant every time I chat to her). Would anybody care to share their plans. Inspire me!

Er - the above is referring to Slow Cooker Chilli, my post looks a bit random!

moomoogalicious · 02/01/2019 17:18

Pork spare ribs with egg fried rice and pak choi
Random frozen leftovers to clear the freezer out
Pie and chips
Jerk chicken and salad
Curry
Might do fajitas tomorrow

HolgerLowCarbingLoser · 02/01/2019 20:05

Ok we have modified our list:

Beef tomato sauce with pasta/aubergine on the side

Jamie’s whole chicken Thai soup, but with spinach and bamboo shoots instead of butternut squash - this will do for two dinners plus one or two lunches

Stir fry with frozen veg, king prawns and noodles

Some of the leftover cheeses from our cheeseboard, with a good loaf of crusty bread and a bottle of wine

Seafood stew, with garlic bread made with the leftover crusty bread

AnnaMariaDreams · 02/01/2019 20:09

Fish veg and jacket
Fake Nando’s, HM chips and corn on cob
HM pizza
Toad in the hole with veg
Shepherds pie with veg- 2 nights of this
Slow cooker chicken and chorizo
That’s ours for the next week.

Ylvamoon · 02/01/2019 20:18

This weeks menu:

Thick potato soup with sausages (frankfurters) and bread
Moroccan spices Veg and chick pea casserole with couscous
Broccoli and Mushroom Thai spiced stir fry
Lentil Lasagne and Salad
Baked potatoes with beans & cheese
Savoury pancakes with cauliflower cheese filling
Roast chicken & Veg.

Afonavon · 02/01/2019 20:28

Paneer curry
Pasta bake
Chili
Enchiladas (with leftover chili)
Sosage, beans and chips
Falafel burgers & salad

NorthernGravy · 02/01/2019 20:30

What is fake Nando’s? A few of you have mentioned it.

Have managed to do our list
Nigella one pan chicken
Poached eggs on toast
Lentil curry and rice
Frozen fish fillets in a Spanishy tomato sauce (adapted from a recipe from bbc food with chorizo in it)
Chicken tacos

I’m going to batch cook a load of plain tomato sauce so I can use it as a base in curries, spay bol, pasta sauce and chilli etc.

buffalo wings with salad and homemade pizza.
Spaghetti bolognese with many veg that strictly speaking shouldn’t be in there but it gets the kids to eat them.
Pork shoulder steaks with swede dauphinois, baked potatoes and peas.
Burgers with rustic fries, mushrooms, avocado and salad.
Pasta Arrabiata.
Turkey curry with swede pakora, saag and pilau rice. Peas for the swede and sash refusers although the curry sauce has lots of onions and tomatoes so does count towards a bit of veg!
Sunday: not sure yet but probably vegetable enchiladas as it’s all been quite meaty this week.

Following week - will include fish and also look at the cookbook we got for Christmas.

TheCrowFromBelow · 02/01/2019 20:50

Your plan looks lovely. The fish sounds great I shall add that to next week’s menu.

AnnaMariaDreams · 02/01/2019 20:58

Our fake Nandos is skinless boneless thighs in a peri peri rub, oven baked served with Nandos sauce.

Longdistance · 02/01/2019 21:07

We don’t normally plan our meals as such but our favourites crop up weekly.
Chicken and pancetta in a garlic cream sauce pasta.
Ham egg and chips
Always a roast on a Sunday
Take away on a Friday
Jacket potatoes with any filling
Omelettes and salad
Chicken and mushroom risotto
I do a puff pastry sheet and put various toppings on it. This goes down well.
Chicken fajitas
Pita bread with kebab chicken

TheTurnOfTheScrew · 02/01/2019 21:16

lifetothefull · 06/01/2019 11:56

Next weekend not sure yet.

ImFreeToDoWhatIWant · 13/01/2019 15:01

I have a roughly monthly rotating meal plan. Monday is chicken, Tues pork, Weds fish, Thurs veggie/pasta or eggs, Fri beef, Sat pizza (homemade), Sun roast. Examples would be:
Mon: curry, casserole, pie, schnitzel, kievs, Hunters chicken
Tues: pulled pork, sausage & mash, gammon & chips, toad in the hole
Weds: breaded fish, salmon fillets,
Thurs: filled bought pasta & sauce, omelettes, creamy chicken & bacon pasta, eggs Benedict,
Fri: burgers, meatballs, tacos, fajitas, sloppy joes, enchiladas

For veg, if it's an oven based main meal then I bung a large tray of roasting veg in, for hob based meals I usually do frozen peas & sweetcorn in the microwave.

MaMisled · 13/01/2019 15:08

Pesto, pasta and roasted veg
Lemon and oregano chicken breasts with egg fried rice
Jacket potatoes with 5 bean and veg chilli
Breaded fish, new potatoes and ratatouille
Chicken and veg tikka masala with sweet potato bhaji
Macaroni cheese with Lindale McCartney sausages
Beef stew and cheesey dumplings

TheGirlWhoLived · 28/12/2019 19:20

New year new start and all that! Thought I’d revamp the old thread rather than start anew (meal plans are meal plans at the end of the day!) Anybody else care to share?

TheGirlWhoLived · 28/12/2019 21:06

Obviously still knee deep in turkey leftovers!

beela · 28/12/2019 21:14

Following.... I was great at meal planning until a few weeks ago when we got crazy busy in the evenings and it all went to pot.

I'm planning to build up several weeks of plans and shopping lists, so that if I am feeling uninspired (or busy) one week then I can just recycle an old one with minimal effort.

Bluddyhateful · 28/12/2019 21:26

I always plan but am rubbish at doing it! Might take the advice up thread of prepping for the next day.

I got a few cookbooks for Christmas so here is a new plan. (We are veggie)

Monday- vegetable korma with rice and poppadoms
Tuesday - rainbow salad, bread and dips
Wednesday - tortellini with tomato sauce and veggies
Thursday - lentils and roast veg
Friday - soup and bread
Saturday - normally eat out
Sunday - veggie sausages and chips and peas / pizza
