Anyone else ever tempted to reply to spam emails for giggles?

So it's 23:11 and I'm up with a poorly child and husband. I've just checked my Spam folder and found the attached (don't worry, the chances of getting a virus just by opening the mail are vanishingly small and I haven't clicked the link).

I'm very tempted to email him/her back in a James Veitch style. I won't, as this is my main email address, but I am tempted. Has anyone ever done this? I'm curious (and bored).

No but Joe Lycett does and I love his responses. Grin

Ahh yes, I've seen some of his as well! Also didn't he do the rubber duck prank?

Oh man! Can't believe I wasn't randomly selected, you're so lucky. Don't spend it all at once Grin

ILoveMaxiBondi · 31/12/2018 23:21

Did he? I haven’t seen that one. I’ve seen the one with Gemma the con artist. The one with the missing cat, the one about his car in the taxi rank and the one about someone famous kicking a pigeon. Grin

James Veitch did the rubber duck prank! I was going to link to it and then saw you'd mentioned him in your OP, and thought "no point then - she's clearly already a fan!"

LadyFlumpalot · 31/12/2018 23:22

Ahhhh I'm tired and getting my comedians mixed up! Blush

I'll link to it anyway, for ILoveMaxiBondi - rubber duck prank here

Go for it, but prepare for them to figure out that you're just fucking with them pretty soon.

I've tried a few times. It's good fun but I'm apparently too smart sounding for them to keep on engaging. Scammers allegedly target the not-so-bright on purpose as they are easier to lead on I totally didn't research after them all dropping me like a hot potatato, because I'm definitely not pathologically competitive. So try and sound a bit dim.

Seeing as yours seems to be going for the vindictive ex angle, how about trying to get him to "fall for you"? Grin

Oh, and: be safe and use a different email address to reply. They won't notice; they send millions of these out. And it protects you from what are, at the end of the day, criminals.

LadyFlumpalot · 31/12/2018 23:44

Ohhhhh, Takenforslanted, good idea! I once had an incredibly intricate one with a life story and photos embedded in the email. I do appreciate a good back story to my spam emails.

Oh that was brilliant! Thank you onlylivingboy! Grin
