9yo still believes. i will tell him when he starts secondary if he hasn't worked it out by then!

nottakingthisanymore · 01/01/2019 08:19
  1. I had to tell her when she started high school.
InternetRandomer · 01/01/2019 08:25

Ds was in yr4 age 8.

Dd yr5 aged 10.

This was our first xmas without anyone thinking Father Christmas was coming and tbh it was a bit of a relief Blush Obv they still have stockings but I could actually take the credit for the amazing presents for once Grin

PerverseConverse · 01/01/2019 08:40

11,9 and 3 yo all believe. 11 yo is almost 12. Swears blind she saw him fly over the house one Christmas Eve when she was about 5. If you can believe in a god, you can believe in fc.

LovingLola · 01/01/2019 08:41

Mine stopped at 8/9.

Twigletaddict · 01/01/2019 08:42

Same as nottakingthisanymore, had to tell Dd before high school.

Dontknowwhatimdoing · 01/01/2019 08:43

My DS was 9

JustMarriedAndLovingIt · 01/01/2019 09:20

I genuinely can’t remember with my own son (15) but DSS who is 8 still believes.

anxious62 · 01/01/2019 09:33

DS was 8.

rallytog1 · 01/01/2019 09:33

Wow. My 5yo DD announced before Christmas that she knows Santa isn't real. No one told her, she reckons she just worked it out Sad

ArabellaUmbrella · 01/01/2019 09:40

Eldest asked aged 11 but had of course worked it out by then! He just waned confirmation. 9 yr old has most definitely believed this year, I wonder if it will be the last... was truly magical though and big brother kept up the pretence bless him (he's 14!)

EllieMentry · 01/01/2019 09:48

No idea! We never discussed it, and they're adults now. I guess probably around 6 or 7ish, but that really is a guess.

It was something that we never denied or confirmed, and we didn't do concrete stuff like leaving mince pies out or making footprints. No lists, and FC only brought a stocking of small things, which I think kept the possibility of him being real alive for a bit longer.

We talked about it in the same way as other myths - told the stories and the rest was down to their imagination. Less was definitely more in our household! They were still beside themselves with excitement at the magic of it all each year.

skippy67 · 01/01/2019 09:50

Dd worked it out aged 7. I had to tell DS at 11 before he started secondary.

Starfish28 · 01/01/2019 09:55

My 6 year old announced in November that Santa isn’t really. His best friend told him it was us putting the presents there. Apparently she told the whole class last year (we won’t at the school so luckily dodged that). It was pretty stressful as I was worried he would tell my nieces. But once we got back to the UK for Christmas (we live overseas) he forgot it all. On Christmas morning he swore he heard Santa on the roof.

airedailleurs · 01/01/2019 09:56

When DD was in yr1 so aged 5, she told her DF that she knew he brought the presents...however she had also told a friend at school that Santa wasn't real and friend's DM was then angry with me as she thought it was my fault for telling my DD and spoiling her DD's Christmas (or something) Confused.

bumblingbovine49 · 01/01/2019 09:57

DS was 6

TowerRingInferno · 01/01/2019 10:29

Ds1 12 (yes really). Ds 2 9 (2 years before ds1)

Ivegotthree · 01/01/2019 10:31

The older ones tend to believe for longer than the younger ones. Our littlest worked it out when he was 8, our oldest was 11.

Christmasfairy07 · 01/01/2019 10:33

I thought DD10 had stopped believing this year but it turned out to be all for show & she was still putting out carrots for the reindeer etc on Christmas Eve 🙂

EdtheBear · 01/01/2019 10:37

7 and seriously questioning it. We are so far denying that the carrots were back in the fridgeXmas Sad
The IL's haven't helped with doing Santa their way.
