Are all your 17 year olds out tonight?

DD feels like she's the only one stuck at home with nothing to do. Some of her friends are away on holiday, others are 18 and going to the pub for the first time on NYE. Others who aren't 18 have fake ID and are getting into the pubs …. think she feels a bit sad and left out.

DH suggested she tries to get in anyway but it's highly unlikely on a night like tonight ….although she's only a couple of weeks away from 18. Not sure she's a pub type anyway to be honest. I think she'd like a mate to go for a meal with and just hang out tonight.

Me and DH are going out with another couple for drinks/meal and I've said she's very welcome to join us but she said that makes her look like a sad loser, as they're teens are out.

Hard being a teen, particularly now with social media.

My 17 year old has just made me a cup of tea. She’s been to Manchester today to spend her Christmas money (she got very excited at a couple of make up counters at Harvey Nicholls she didn’t know were available in the UK. She also bought very unsuitable stiletto boots but has just eaten a NYE dinner with us and had a glass of wine (wearing very sparkly eye shadow.

We have James Bond on the TV.

“My just 17 year old is grounded for rolling in an hour late at 1.30 earlier this week, drunk as a lord. How this one is ever going to survive to adulthood, is beyond me“

The same as all the other 17 year olds who do this every weekend, I suppose.

I remember being 17, Millennium NYE. Went out with my new 21yo boyfriend to a party, he came down with flu fairly immediately and we were back at mine by 10pm. My parents were at a street party later than me. Blush
Totally sucked (I'm over it now though.) Grin

nearly 17 year old DS has just hoovered up a pizza and is now in his room playing his bass. Much prefer that to him rolling in drunk so quite happy.

My 17yo is not going out partly because we're in the US where 17 year olds can't drink, and partly because her college applications are due Jan 1st and 2nd.

We did invite her to come out with us and her siblings but she'd rather hole up in her room, chat online to her boyfriend, watch Netflix, etc.

I didn't hear any of the teens come home, so they must have been relatively sober!

17yo DS was at a friend's house with his pals. 18yo DD was at a party and then was going onto a club. She has a friend staying and there are 2 pairs of high heels in the hall, so that's a good sign Grin

19 yo DD was at a street party in a nearby village with her boyfriend. 15yo DD was at a friend's parents' party and is staying over. DH, DD13, DS12 and I saw the bells in our pj's with snacks and some fizzy juice.

My 17 year old ds1 is still out... the plans were to stay up all night and then head to the local McDonald's for breakfast (classy!). He said he would text to let me know he's OK. No text yet, obviously... Hmm
