Being bitten

Hi. DH, dd1 and myself are being bitten by something in the house and could use your help please. DH’s workplace has fleas. This is a known problem and is being dealt with.

I thought he’d brought them home so I’m keeping on top of washing sheets, towels etc but can’t seem to get rid of them. We have cats but they are treat regularly with flea medication.

What’s puzzling me as well though is the bites seem to differ. There’s non-itchy red marks, vv itchy obvious bites, small blisters and raised non-red lumps. Could they all be flea bites or are they from different insects (vampires) 🧛🏻‍♂️

We’ve recently moved into this house and it’s had a thorough clean and we’ve got new carpets, linens, curtains etc.

Any help would be appreciated.

And I’m sure it’s turning psychological as well cos I can’t stop itching lol.

Thank you

Get yourself some anti bite spray - jungle or similar

Then treat the house

Because the cats are protected they are biting you

Look at house bomb things
Vacuum everyday

Different people react differently, anyway, so you can't always compare bites even from same bug.
Pics?

Indorex spray. Go crazy with it all over the house then Hoover everything and indorex it all over again.

I got a spray for the carpets, floors and soft furnishings from the vet, it was expensive, but it worked very quickly.

Thank you. Indorex ordered. I’ve also ordered some Avon skin so soft dry lotion which I believe is good.

I’ve tried to add photos. Hope it works.

Do you live in a very old house?

nc12564378 · 31/12/2018 15:52

I believe the house was built in the 1890s

Years ago I got bitten by a mystery insect and couldn’t work out what. No other family members were affected. I replaced the bedding and fumigated the bedroom with smoke bomb thingies (had to sleep in another room for a night. As I do a lot of gardening I thought perhaps I picked up an insect there, so went to my GP and asked if there was a human version of insect killer for plants (something with, say, permethrin in it). He couldn’t work out what it was but gave me a cream with it in, which worked. After mentioning it years later to someone, I think that it was scabies Shock!

Re the question on housing - I lived in an 1870s house at the time

My dsis lived in a very old grade II listed property.
All was fine until summer when whatever it was came out of the fabric of the building and bit them. Her dh's bites were always getting infected, the baby was bitten all around the top of his nappy.
They sold the house.
