So here i stand, four stone heavier than a healthy person should be and feeling every ounce of it.

Poor skin, bad sleep habits, constipated, lethargic and cumbersome/inflexible. I also look like the side of a house.

I’ve sownloades MFP and it reckons I should be on 1200 calories a day.

I’ve so far had tea - I don’t take milk or sugar - and for brunch some blueberries, raspberries, Brazil nuts and dried apricots - a nice tasty meal I reckon.

If I follow the MFP rules and add at least two one hour fitness sessions a week should that work?

You're lucky you don't take milk in your tea. I drink it with milk and quite a few cups a day so that takes quite a lot of my daily calorie allowance.

I’ve used mfp on and off for a year and managed to loose nearly 3 stone. It really wakes you up to the reality of eating habits I was over eating by a huge amount.

My top tip is to set your first goal as a stone less and go from there trying to work towards 4 stones is overwhelming but one stone achievable then you can set it again for the next stone.

I’ve just developed a cappuccino habit though - I reckon that will be a once a week treat!

I've lost a stone on MFP. I'm really enjoying it

Hi,

I lost three stone with it this year. Amazing result for me and I have been to weight loss clubs for 15 yrs plus losing/gaining the same half stone/stone. I did no exercise other than dog walks.

That said I think it is all very much based on which way works for you personally and we are all different. Calorie deficit loses the weight but it is the practicall and psychological side of it that keeps you on any plan.

What worked for me was the following:

Tracking cals on the app
Loosely meal planning
Bulk cooking /freezing for easy go to meals if needed
Never restricting cals further on a subsequent day if I felt I had overeaten.
Keeping a week to week journal which I focused on at the start of each week.
Practising speaking kindly /gently to myself...very important.

The biggest success for me personally has been maintaining the lower weight after easing off the diet for a bit from September. I still have two stone to go and will ease back into it over the next few weeks.

I firmly believe its tweaking whats out there for your own needs/ issues. Personally speaking, slimmimg clubs drain the very life out of me!

Good luck x

Sorry, dumb question, I am looking for a weight loss plan, what is MFP?

hendricksy · 31/12/2018 12:15

My fitness pal .. it's an app where you track your food .

CormoranStrike · 31/12/2018 12:16

It’s an app called My Fitneas Pal and it allows you to track every morsel.
