Embedded fluffy stuff in hairbrush

You know, the dense fluff that surrounds the lower bit of the bristle.

What on earth is it?

AFAIK my hair is not particularly dusty!

I think it's hair products, dead skin and oils.

Aridane · 31/12/2018 08:52

Ugh

Top tip - if you put your hairbrush in the dishwasher it gets most of it off!

I think it's dead skin. I wash mine every week with shampoo and hot water.

i was about to suggest dishwasher

I wear fluffy scarves quite often so my hairbrush is usually clogged with actual fluff.

Aridane · 31/12/2018 11:13

I tried dishwasher thing a while back and it just went into soggy clumps Shock !

Rub two hairbrushes together in a bowl of soapy water

DisplayPurposesOnly · 31/12/2018 12:43

I leave mine to soak for a bit in very hot water with bio washing powder / liquid, then 'handwash' once the water's cooled a bit.

I couldn't bring myself to run a whole dishwasher for one hairbrush. Isn't that wasteful?

OkMaybeNot · 31/12/2018 12:44

The natural oils in your hair settle there and it attracts dust/clothes fibres that cling to your hair.

HolgerLowCarbingLoser · 31/12/2018 13:51

I use a comb to comb it all out.

jalopy · 31/12/2018 14:07

I soak mine in hot water and soda crystals. Really ease to clean off afterwards.

ImogenTubbs · 31/12/2018 15:03

All of the above including actual fluff - fibres from clothes and carpets.

AintNobodyHereButUsReindeer · 31/12/2018 15:37

I put my tangle teaser in the dishwasher Grin I don't run a special cycle just for that though, I just put it in with the pots. I only put it in if the dirty pots aren't covered in pasta sauce/gravy type stuff though.

No-one's died from it yet!
