Did you capture opening presents Christmas morning or were are you too caught up in it all?

Ds's first Christmas so I took a few pictures of him trying to open his first present, and a couple of him with his main gift from us, but that was it. I have very fond memories of looking back through photo albums my parents have of previous Christmases, and I hope ds has something similar. If it makes any difference I think I'm the only person I know who still gets photos printed!

A video of DS hitting his Caga Tio and squealing with delight at his presents. (All 3 minutes). And some photos during the day of him with particular presents, actually playing with them, to whatsapp to family abroad.

But no photos or video of actually opening gifts, too busy enjoying it in real time.

Yes I have a few (4 or so per child) of them opening their presents - I like to have some to look back on, balanced out with not spending so long photographing an event I actually miss the event happening.

Have a corking one of DD2, completely in the middle of a chaotic sea of presents and wrapping paper, sat there totally oblivious reading a book.

Photography is my hobby and I take my camera everywhere and have hundreds of photos of dd's however I only took one at Christmas.

I want to be in the middle of it all and not behind a camera.

We unwrap gifts from others at the same time then I take a photo of the kids opening and then holding each gift from others smiling then send it to them as a quick thanks. I just snap odd other images apart from that. I prefer to live my life not behind my mobile.

I took photos. I have hardly any photos of my family from my childhood. My parents are both dead and our photos are gone. I would love to have those pictures. So I take lots of my children so they can see them when they are grown up.

Couple of photos

I love photography but no, I didn't take any of the dc opening their presents. In past years I have taken one or two but I haven't done that for a while. Not everything has to be filmed - it does still happen even if it's not caught on camera! Also, there's this thing called a "memory". For most people, surely it doesn't need to be recorded for you to actually remember it?

I have seen a few fb posts where people have taken and posted hundreds of photos of their kids opening their presents. The majority of the images are blurred, over- or under-exposed, wonky and just not properly thought through. Surely, if you're going to post pictures for everyone to see, you'd go through them, weed out the crap ones and the repetitive ones and just post a few of the better ones?

2019HereWeCome · 30/12/2018 21:32

I do take photos of my dc btw. I just make sure that they're decent, clear, properly exposed and in focus shots and that they're not overly repetitive (who needs 1,000,000 images of the same thing?). I'd hate to feel as though I was living my life through someone else's lens so I try not to do the same to my dc and I certainly avoid posting every single photo of them on fb.

Why do you ask? Are you a lazy journo?

Brigante9 · 30/12/2018 21:57

Yes I did, but I'm a saddo and tragic!

Clever boys!
